In the previous blog, I portrayed how God is protective like a man towards a woman he loves. I as well talked about intimacy, and how important it is to keep the door shut, lest someone enters and interrupts an ongoing act which’s also termed as ‘knowing’ in Hebrew.
Being in the secret place doesn’t necessarily mean it’s safe from strangers. The physical bedroom door might be shut, but that doesn’t mean there are no other doors available.
One time, I was on my phone during prayer time. Even if initially, the idea was to read scriptures, I found myself on Google, trying to find a root term for something. Before I knew it, I was on Instagram! — dead scrolling.
God painted to me this picture — and again, like the previous blog, the reader should be warned of the dysphemisms here. God said I was like a woman uninvested looking at a phone while the man was making out with her.
Just the thought of it sank me!
Here I was, having conjured the Holy of Holies! The very place that killed priests in the Old Testament — that atmosphere; here it was, and I just acted like I didn’t know it was holy ground.
Ah, the depth of the wreckage in me has no words to describe it.
I’d feel the jealousy of God boiling. Remember I mentioned that His being jealous FOR you, means, He is so obsessed with you He doesn’t want anything else to have you, or He will do His best not to permit some things to have you.
Place Him in the image He painted for me. Remember the man in Song of Solomon represents Him. If He goes in to know the woman, but her attention is far away, the pleasure loses its purpose! Just as He wanted you so bad, you must come to a place where you are sensitive and understand the gravity of that love!
You may not necessarily reciprocate it at the same level He has shed it toward you, but you must attempt giving your best!
The conclusion of the whole matter is; He’s jealous for you, sure. But there’s a thin line between ‘you shall not have any other gods before me’ and having those gods. The problem is the gods which were idols have changed form since the golden ages.
The whole mind wandering while one is on phone in that place can as well be termed as a threesome, or typical adultery, or idolatry! For it is clear that God isn’t your god at that moment, but the phone!
The secret place’s physical door maybe shut, but that doesn’t mean there are no other available doors open!
That alone can make a man walk out. God is patient and kind, yes! But do not test the Lord your God. After several warnings, He might forgive. But that is how many miss Him while He is moving in a place.
God was in this place and I knew not is a very common expression these days.
We never sense that it is intimacy time. And His Spirit being gentle, (depending on one’s synchronicity with Him) by the time you realize He’s gone, it’s usually late!
I am holy so be holy. He says. If He’s become vulnerable unto you, offering His intimacy, you must be undistracted enough to offer yours!
It’s one thing for His jealousy to fight for you — not to let anything have you. It’s another when you choose or allow anything else to have you other than Him.
