Yesterday morning, I woke up at the thought of Apostle Paul. I remembered when he was preaching and a man fell through a window off a third floor having dozed off. The man died on spot!
Paul descended and resurrected the man. Then he continued preaching.
There was no panic rush. No ambulance summoning! No first aid commissioning — but rather zoe admnistering!
I also remembered when the viper bit him! He didn’t look for a black stone or for some remedy!
He simply shook it off into the fire!
He was a superhuman! They called him a god! In the marvel cinematic universe, he would be termed a mutant! Class five perhaps! I mean he gives life back to the dead! Who wouldn’t want such a hero!
The man Paul raised was Eutychus! I was driven to think of what Paul’s train of thought was! Most of us would have called 911 to aid Eutychus. If the snake bit us we’d be rushing to the hospital! Simple headaches and we are looking for paracetamols!
Ah! (Sigh)
It’s not that we don’t have this power available to us! We — Christlike creatures! we just haven’t been convinced of it (or haven’t believed that it’s within us) … and if we have, we have refrained from daring this power. We have not thrust our hands on the sick. We haven’t attempted to raise the dead! We haven’t overlooked the possibility of a lame man failing to rise out a wheel chair! We never ask ‘what if they actually get up!’ We always think ‘what will it look like if they fail to.’
We must bear Paul’s mind. That these signs shall follow us. That we can raise the dead. That we can heal the sick! That we can make straight crooked bones! That blind eyes can see! According to the power of Christ in us, through the Spirit of God!
Practice makes perfect in this context as well. The same way we hone a skill, we shouldn’t be discouraged when the first cases don’t heal. If your mindset is set on the fact that you will do even greater works than Jesus did … and if you can imagine yourself praying and the sick getting up to carry their mats, then it’s just a matter of time before that becomes a reality.
For as a man thinketh, so is (s)he
But, as you leave this scroll, remember, Elijah was a man like you, and yet he prayed that there would be no rain — and there wasn’t! (James 5:17)
Please note: A MAN LIKE YOU!
The power to manipulate weather he had (like the fictional X-Men character Storm — only that Elijah isn’t fictional! But a God-fearing man like you!)
The examples I have used are all your tribe! Come up hither! You too are a god! You too can give life! You too can heal the sick! Because God dwells in you and you have access to the power that can do all these superhuman activities through Christ (if you have believed on Him).
