On Saturday the 11th, I was coming out the shower, when I heard the Lord say, ‘Spain will win the World Cup.’
Now, I wasn’t deep in prayer asking Him to reveal who would win. I was all minding my own business when He said this.
In May, we were set to travel to Rwanda to attend a friend’s wedding. We were struggling to build quorum with those that would travel with us.
One of us had kept our hopes up, but on a Tuesday — two days before we would travel, God clearly said to me she was not going.
On Thursday, when I asked her if she had booked accommodation, she said she wasn’t going. Even for this scenario, I wasn’t pestering God to tell me who was going or who wasn’t.
Those who know me know I love journaling, and it’s for reasons such as these.
I wasn’t able to catch the world cup final two Sundays after the reveal, as I slept early. I woke up at about 1am as loud bangs shot into the sky on the next hill. Fireworks were lighting up the night. I googled who had won. Behold, Spain!
I repented!
I can’t believe I doubted the knower of all things, and justified Spain’s incapability of winning because they had no ‘G.O.A.T!’ Here He was telling of what’s to come. And I couldn’t even recall He doesn’t lie!
It’s like Gabriel telling Mary she’d conceive without a man, and instead of asking how it could be, I immediately inclined to ‘impossible.’
Didn’t He say with man it might be impossible but with Him, all things are!
To digress … the moral of this whole article is: HE STILL SPEAKS. And He isn’t speaking to me just to show off that I’m prophetic. In fact I am posting this now because I didn’t want people to question why I couldn’t publicly display who’d win earlier.
I needed clarity on a big decision I made on 24th July. Many were asking me to pray about it — saying I’m acting out of emotion. God had already instructed me to proceed with it, and when I was unsure, He said ‘Did I not tell you who’d win the World Cup? If you trusted that I did, then trust that I led you to this decision.’
Many of us hear God, and obey, but perhaps things take a different turn shortly thereafter. We usually question if we heard well! But I have come to a conclusion that if He directs and orders the steps of the righteous, then whatever the outcome, we must trust that we heard — especially with the backing of past testimonies.
God still speaks today, dear children. But the next league is not whether He speaks or not. Rather, it is grounding ourselves to the instruction of what He said.
The devil likes making uncertain what God said — making you think they were your own thoughts or devaluing the gravity of the caution:
“Did God really say you shall not eat of the tree of good and evil?”
Once doubt enters the chat, we are prone to breaking the rules and the hedges around us. You are His sheep. May you know His voice more and more. May you never sway from the frequency of it. May you trust it with all your heart. And may with it come the power and ability to stand and do what it’s heeded of you.
