Outside the actual city, the transport fares are relatively average and considerate. But as one closes into the city, it is as if they are in a completely different state. This is on the main streets or communing between the uptown and downtown.
One can spend 3000 shillings or 4 as fare for a distance of 3.6km using a boda boda in the suburbs. In the metropolitan, around Nakasero, just moving from Nasser Road to Johnson street (which’s 1.8km) is estimated for the same price — meaning, the value doubles.
Now the Bible calls the christian a city on a hill. The Lord talked to me as I dismounted off one boda boda. If in the city, the value doubles, or triples, then each christian must be a place of value addition or value increment.
When people come into contact with you, their value ought to be known or made known — firstly, and then it ought to increase! When people meet you, they ought to interact with high value: in the way you speak, in the way you dress, in the way you walk. For the Bible calls you royalty (1 Pet 2:9)
Value can be so many things. It can be another human realizing how much they are loved, or worthy. It can be bestowing favor to another; or one realizing the power they have, the glory they have — or is available for them. It can be joy, or peace, even wealth — and what better way to encounter these but by introducing God to people.
Some would have known God but at a shallow level. You ought to increase the value of God as well in others’ lives. I have a friend who used to be catholic. She confessed that she didn’t know christianity would be fun until she met me.
She encountered first hand that one could find peak joy in God. It used to be night clubs for her. That, she abandoned! Praise the Lord. That is what it means for you and I to be compared to cities: Adding value to people! Adding value to God by living or showing His marvelous works & truth.
