Spirit of Remembrance

I did some work for Justine. She said she would pay me within that week. Well, I forgot about it. Luckily, she returned after a month or so. She cleared her debt. Hers was a little figure. However, that’s when I saw another lady who owed me much! She was singing up on stage when I suddenly remembered … but I wonder if she remembers.

For my recent graduation party, there were some friends I had invited. I assumed they were receiving all the WhatsApp messages. On the actual day, they never showed up. Obviously it was disheartening, but not as much, if none would have showed up at all.

About three sent in apologies the day after. But this particular one said, “My mind kept on telling me there was something I was supposed to do, but I didn’t know what — and today is when it hit me — your party!”

Clearly he had not been that busy! But it is human to get so busy. Though this should not be hugged as excuse.

Notwithstanding, that is when I remembered the antidote in John. We have a reminder, that is not a machine, but an actual person: the Holy Spirit! He, being real, can always remind us when we most need it!

I have seen relationships end because so-and-so forgot to come to her friend’s wedding or loved one’s burial … or another important event — and it is more deplorable when there was no communication explaining failure to show up both before and after.

Human relationships are so important, and we must do our best to retain them. I’ve seen other scenarios, following what I explained earlier. Someone chooses not to attend a friend’s event because that friend never showed up to theirs.

Call it petty, but it happens. Grudges long wax, slowly by slowly, until toxicity reaches a peak, and results into cold brutal wars — because … all because someone forgot something (and to make matters worse; never apologized)

Now this is a call to repentance; to use the best of our diaries and calendars and phone planners to remind us of important events for others! When I forget to put these reminders, I have witnessed the Holy Spirit randomly reminding me to add that reminder. I end up doing so, and never miss out on the celebrations or events.

I pray for you, that you not only employ Him as an intercessor, but a reminder for all the important endeavors you must engage in; on top of the earthly systems available for your helping.

May He as well remind you of prophecies long forgotten; of dreams dreamt but snatched by the devices of dementia: which wouldn’t be nice if they are weighty as Pharaoh’s which spoke concerning the future.

In your golden ages, may your mind be so sound, that you forget not your grandchildren’s names, nor their children. Like Moses’ eye sight wasn’t dim at 120, may your mind stay sharp: memorizing all you meditated upon from God’s living word, and employ it where necessary — line for line, verse for verse.

In Jesus’ name. Amen

John‬ ‭14‬:‭26‬ But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
