Sow Abundantly

2 Corinthians 9:6 But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

One time I was praying with my sister, and I felt like we had been praying a lot!

As though He had read my thoughts, the Holy Spirit bellowed, “Sow sparingly to the things of the Spirit and you’ll reap sparingly. But keep sowing abundantly, and you’ll abundantly reap.”

Many Christians are struggling with sin, temptation and powerlessness in their walks of life, and wonder why! It’s simple. They haven’t sowed as much to the Spirit. It’s not even about whether they’ve prayed enough, or read God’s word enough.

Both these require time set apart. Even the farmer needs time to go sow bean seeds.

We claim we are too busy. And yet we find time to hang out, or go to the gym, or go to our jobs without fail! We sow abundantly to the flesh, and of the flesh we reap.

You must get out of your way to create time for God. Intentionally — without fail! What I have realized in my faith journey is, there’s always more. Every year I feel I have prayed the most. But a few months later, the prayers then are something incomparable to those of the past.

Voices shall say ‘you are over praying…’ But there’s no such thing as that. The Bible’s standard in fact is ‘pray always — without ceasing!’

How about you sow everyday! So that as you reap February’s harvest today, you are at the same time sowing August’s gleans. This is how we stay green all year. This is how we do not wither. This is how we maintain one season — (no dry season or wet; no reaping or sowing season. Every season is both sowing one part of the garden & reaping the other)

This is how we become that tree planted by rivers of waters mentioned in Psalm 1! By sowing abundantly or as our theme scripture says — bountifully!

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
