Whilst going to sleep last night, I asked the birthday boy to give me a new revelation concerning His birth. He said, “But you already have one…”
It seems intentional to me that Mary and Joseph arrived late, or that the inns weren’t enough, or that Bethlehem’s greatness had fallen so far that no one ever thought one day they’d need enough hotels to house people coming from the grander cities to register as the Roman command from Caesar Augustus proclaimed.
I see God was intentional about all of it. And I think, this is the message He meant by ‘you already have one.’
A couple of days ago, I’d thought deeply about how stinking the improvised inn was. The donkeys about didn’t care. The chickens passed out poo like this twosome were the usual egg collectors that worked at the coop. The cattle chewed their cud like no man’s business, and their fleas bit as usual.
The place was degrading for a child to be born. In Africa, that was a perfect ground for a child to get any killer disease. Perhaps the water — both for drinking & labor use — available was from the kraal troughs.
Ah! I must end the description, lest you stop reading.
If Jesus grew up in this generation, and He told of where he was born, many kids would nickname him at school. They’d not understand that the inns were full. They’d rush to conclude that their family was broke. It wouldn’t matter if some fat star shone that day. Jesus’ birth alone would set the corridors to spur with careful whispers of how bad his situation was.
And perhaps … that’s how your story is.
You were born in a fourth world country — if it even exists — in one of the incognito or innominate villages that even that country doesn’t know about!
Jesus’ story teaches us that it doesn’t matter how bad it was; you too can be great!
Jesus’ fame outshone the decapitated situation of His birth! His greatness could not be held back by the first few hours of unpleasantness He was born into.
He still turned the world upside down!
You could not have gone to the best schools; you could not have been among the best in class; your family name could have never been known beyond your house’s walls, but that doesn’t mean there’s no greatness inside you!
Don’t let any circumstance hinder the light or idea in you!
You can still be great despite your background!
Arise and shine, your time has come! Your path shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day!
And another thing; Yes, Jesus was born in an unloveable environs, but He was born anyway! It’s possible to have had another woman give birth in a seven-star inn but lose the child at birth!
Let’s be grateful that you were born anyway; broke or not! surrounded by sheep or not! You still made it alive. And for that, the world (and yourself) will get to see the measure of greatness within you; the grand plans God has to prosper you!
Things are going to get easier!
Kings shall come to your rising, nations to your light!
There’s greatness on the inside of you!
Don’t choke it! Don’t crack!
No one remembers that David was once the forgotten member of his family. No one remembers he was a shepherd! We all remember His end! Israel’s greatest king second to Jesus! And that made the things people despised about him look commendable or cool. That made his hometown more famous in fact! People like Mandela made the world stop and focus on His country.
If a black actor acts such nice movies for a racist, they’d perhaps reconsider hating all colored people because of that one person. That’s the power of greatness!
Great exploits shall you do too!
There’s greatness on the inside of you!
Don’t choke it because of your current situation!
When the time is right, God will publish your greatness abroad!
Merry Christmas! 🤗

This is inspiring. Jesus’ story teaches us that it doesn’t matter where one was born or the circumstances.
