Cold Fire

In the hit movie Prince of Egypt (1998), a different perspective was shown by the creators as Moses approached the burning bush. Here, the fire was blue before it turned red. Since the bush wasn’t getting consumed to ashes, Moses touched it. It did not burn him, just like it wasn’t burning the bush’s leaves. It was cold fire!

But how can fire be cold? It’s like saying water can’t wet you! I was perplexed and bewildered!

But then, I remembered that nothing is too hard for God.

He seems to rewrite laws in a moment for those that love Him. In doing so, He seems to be breaking the laws in general. But He is above the laws. It’s us seeing Him this way first, that we can be driven to a place of ‘all things are possible to them that believe’.

Seeing miracles like these, cold fires, furnaces that turned cold for Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego and yet remained hot to their antagonists, brings one to a place of being more in awe of God.

Seeing wonders like a viper biting Paul and him not swelling or dying on spot causes an atheist to repent!

I call this the secret of the creator. The creation first experienced fire while it was hot, and we thought it must be hot. But that’s where we get it wrong. Fire is what the creator means it to be and calls it to be. So if He told it to be cold with the burning bush, it responded with “yes my Lord.”

Let me paint a different scenario. When we first saw water as babes, we thought its form was only liquid. Soon we saw dew. Then ice. Then steam. It’s all water but in different states as a gas, and as a solid! That already changes the narrative or context of what we thought water was meant to be.

Even if fire is experienced as hot, in Isaiah, a cherub touched a coal of fire and placed it on Isaiah’s lips. No record shows that the seraph hissed at the burning of its hands, nor did Isaiah say “Oh, the coal burnt my mouth.”

Things seem to obey different rules when addressing or being addressed by God.

The exciting news is, this secret (of the Lord) is with those that love Him. Like Abednego and gang, things’ nature and atomic structure seems to bend and change and react differently to them as though they were some sort of mutants from X-Men.

Many think Jesus walked on water because He was God! Many find it hard to believe that he was man too! But if He’s an unbelievable example, let’s survey the rest;

Elijah told it not to rain. Elisha made water lose gravity, sinking a stick, and making to float an axehead! A stick!? Sinking??? A metal!? Floating??? The thoughts of it create wrinkles in my brain…

Elisha once again struck, telling the economy to resurrect and scarcity to cease. An old woman’s womb worked again. And her grandchild caused sheep and goats to alter their DNA by simply looking at what he wanted their lambs and kids to look like.

This is all to say that the miraculous is with you, yes you if you have God living on the inside of you. You can decree a thing and it shall be established. You too can call a thing which is not as though it was, and it shall be. The message version says, ‘You’ll decide what you want and it will happen;’

If you think of it, this is how God is. He decided saying “Let there be light”, and light was.

The lesson is to understand, that in the lowest of life’s valleys, you too can make a way through the sea! Yes it wasn’t God who split the sea. He Himself said, “But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”

Yes the power was of God, but the execution was Moses’.

So has life thrown you fire? Make it cold! Has life sunk the world’s economy down the river? Yours can float back up swiftly! God has given you the ability to change the rules and manipulate natural laws for your advantage and for the glory of His name!

Execute!

Job 22:28-30 You’ll decide what you want and it will happen; your life will be bathed in light. To those who feel low you’ll say, ‘Chin up! Be brave!’ and God will save them. Yes, even the guilty will escape, escape through God’s grace in your life.” MSG

Mark 11:23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
