Faith with Deeds

Eugen was murdered on his way back home on the night of 5th September 2019 in the Naalya Estate. He was a believer. Reports said, thieves trailed him and hit him hard in the back of the head. They hit him too hard, his autopsy revealed a crack on the skull.

The following day, while on the way to his vigil, I and two other friends of his were silent in the car. All our hearts had the same question, which was voiced by Anita, who asked, “Do you believe Eugen can resurrect?” We all looked at each other! And said yes.

We raised worship music in the car and prayed in tongues until we reached the venue. Lydia was an auntie to Eugen, though she was our agemate. We only moved out the car when she got out the house, with bloodshot eyes. We only joined the mourners later, in attempt to see the body and see him raise! Other than that, we stayed prayed up, even up to the point of his lowering into the grave.

On 22nd December 2021, Mushabe Samuel, a close O’Level OB was announced dead. It was quite a shock! On one of his friend’s status, immediately after posting him saying ‘Rest in Peace’, the next post was completely unrelated to RIP. I put myself in Sam’s shoes, asking myself, ‘Will they miss me so much, or will they post a RIP and move on? Is there a way they’d help me?’

The thought of that haunted me. I then made up my mind to try as much as I can to raise my faith, to raise a dead loved one or friend. Some claim that it is God’s will why people are taken. But if it is so, why then did He also say that we’d raise the dead?

I know we all will die, but it shouldn’t be prematurely! Imagine a baby coming out 5 months early. The doctors will create an atmosphere that’ll enable him or her to continue growing without harm for the next four.

That is what the miracle of resurrection requires for most of those that seem to be departing ‘prematurely’. Those in authority have to use the keys they hold to snatch them back to life, from the hands of wrestling death—the thief who comes to steal, kill & destroy, by creating an atmosphere of faith, in hope that the ‘baby’ will respond & thrive.

When we think of it in fact, once the doctors create the write condition, the baby will be preserved. If not, we might lose the child. Dr. Jesus corrected the atmosphere for Lazarus. When Lazarus died prematurely, Jesus brought him back. Others say, ‘Well, even Lazarus died again…’

But, what if he died again having reached 120 years! See the difference? What if he got children & grandchildren & great grandchildren. I envision him evangelize, telling of the miracle he lived! Lives must have been converted as quickly as popcorn.

Today’s post is about stressing two points;

Giving faith a chance, and not giving up.

Giving a chance is the doctors not laying someone off, but creating the atmosphere, giving CPR, to resuscitate the deceased. Not giving up is when after all several attempts of raising the dead and none does, you don’t drop your head, but continue believing that you can!

Last year, today—the 7th of April, Sam my best friend was pronounced dead. Oh boy I put up a fight of faith, along with his other close friends. The results were fairly different from Eugen’s case… It was like receiving two pulses after the prayer, then none at all.

Regardless, I knew it was a great improvement unlike the first.

Since most of us aren’t sure whether the people who died still needed to live, we’d rather allow them a chance to come back tell us whether they indeed wanted to or not. If they say they didn’t, they can acquaint death again, but if they wanted (which is almost 99.999% of the people) then we need to give them a chance by our faith.

Have you ever been so broke without airtime, and someone randomly called you (especially the person you had wanted to talk to in the first place)? … Your joy is indescribable. Some of them say ‘I was thinking about you…’

Imagine that on the other side of life, you being dead and someone calling to send you aid or transport fare out of that bleak place; Would you refuse it? Maybe not!

Some will call me a fanatic, simply because they haven’t imagined themselves being the ones dead, and in need of a return ticket! Once they do, their mindsets immediately start to change, and open up to faith. I imagine being trapped in a mine which collapsed in.

Imagine as I screamed down below, as I saw a flicker of light reaching me, and then as the rescue team was about to reach me, they decide to give up! That’s what we have done to many!

We repent Lord!

Once again I say, give faith a chance, and do not give up. This is what faith with deeds has taught me. For as a child keeps trying to walk and falls, one day he learns to eventually.

As you attempt to raise the dead and fail, one day you will. Practice makes perfect!

Crawling, walking, running and flying, are all mere practices of faith.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
