The devil dressed in light

Children lie sick on beds. Leukemia or some other cancer has claimed their lives. With bald heads they cry with a dying wish; ‘I want to see Aquaman, or Superman.’

The actors who played these roles go on to stumble over such posts on social media, and so go to visit these children. Now many of these children were not told that the superheroes we see on TV are fiction!

They put all their trust, hope and faith in them. ‘He’ll come save me like he did Lois Lane’ one child will say, and he’ll make so much noise that social media campaigns start. Sadly, many of these children end up dying due to the cancer. And I wonder, ‘did the heroes really save them?’

After burial we wonder where the children’s souls are! We only hope they didn’t get to a worse place, but our hearts are unsettled, deeply troubled whether they made it to heaven or hell. The children’s last words normally sound like ‘…atleast I met superman, now I can die!’

Rubbish!

Superman only exists to satisfy our carnal entertainment fantasies. Unfortunately today, these comic characters are more real, and coexist in our same universe. Now I’m not saying that Captain America or Iron man are the devil—no! But children going as far to think that these characters determine our saving from death in the actual world is what I’d term as the devil dressed in light.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light;

Many above 17 years of age know the truth. It is those far younger that we need to caution!

Some people hear God. Yes, they pretty clearly hear God speak. He has told one ‘I will give you a house for free.’ He has told another, ‘So and so is your wife to be.’ To another he has given a desire to expect a certain brand of a car. Suddenly, months become years, and years become decades.

The promise fades. One contemplates to buy a house having received a job that’s able to kick that off the bucket list. Maybe the one who was promised a matrimonial half starts to think it wasn’t God they indeed heard. The one who was supposed to expect a high-classy brand car receives some other sort of second hand car and settles!

The house person thinks God gave him a great job in order to buy himself a house. The other guy thinks he didn’t hear God. The third person thinks God changed His mind! But He isn’t man that He should lie. if He promises Isaac, Isaac you’ll have. Many are too impatient that by the time the actual Isaac comes, Ishmael has lived around long enough to have had him renamed ‘Isaac’!

All this doing is the devil dressed in light. Like a wolf dressed in sheep’s wool he makes you think it is God’s doing.

If Jesus became poor so that you could be rich, then religion’s teaching that a true christian isn’t supposed to be rich sounds the opposite; that’s the devil dressed in light.

Easter bunnies instead of Jesus’ resurrection; the devil dressed in light.

Praying to Santa Claus to reconcile families on Christmas while yet singing a Christmas carol around him entitled ‘O Holy Night’ is the devil dressed in light. The hymn mentions a savior’s birth who’s never fully acknowledged. The fat silver bearded man is slowly eating up Jesus’ space in cathedrals. Who came up with him anyway!

Suffering a disease and then saying ‘God is punishing you for a sin’, is such a joke and is surely the devil dressed in light. Fools I’ll call them, take it as a privilege, dwelling in their ignorance. How can the same God who suffered lashes & stripes to carry your disease and take them away from you, be the same that reimputes them on you!

It’s like blaming a doctor for giving you disease!

When men are ignorant of God, the devil chooses to dress in light and appear like God to them, leading them astray even farther, for they do not know exactly what God likes and what He doesn’t!

When people ask questions like ‘Are you sure some men are not born gay?’, it only creates assumption that it is okay to have sex with the same gender and yet clearly, God mentions in His word how He destroyed two cities because of that sin, and how He loathes it entirely.

But how can men who don’t know this tell that it is surely bad and not go on to ask silly questions as such!

I am not ‘attacking’ homosexuality per se. I am attacking sin as a general. Unbelief, lying, disobedience, stealing and everything that God names ‘not good’.

Men arguing that one sin is more deadly than the other is also the devil dressed in light. Men think they are having a holy conversation; thinking adultery is more weightier as a sin than not paying taxes or mere lying!

Unfortunately, God’s standards are too high. Even having thoughts of sex with someone both before getting married or with someone not your spouse—just mere thoughts—are worth eternal damnation in some lake boiling with sulfur.

Nevertheless, there’s a way you can see the devil a far off and catch him before he swings the hinges of the door to your heart and mind to come in with lies and wiles which cause you to perish! That way is simply an offending line that states; STOP BEING IGNORANT!

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Know His word and you’ll know His heart. Know His word and you’ll know His mind.

He’ll help you stand, enable you to do what’s right, and open your eyes as well to see the other divers forms the devil can come in to trick you into accepting what is not lawful and pleasing to God; the maker of heaven & earth . . . and you!

2 Corinthians 2:11 After all, we don’t want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief–we’re not oblivious to his sly ways! (Msg)

Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. (KJV),
