Landmarks…

So, today I’d like to talk about some life changing events in my life. I’ll share one for now. This was at my secondary school in 2009, when I had joined Senior One. There were christian fellowships every Saturday and Sunday afternoons and they were the only potential plot at school for me.

I kept attending them and I can’t quite remember exactly when the thing that would turn my life around hit me. I can’t recall whether it was second term or third, I was only 11. What I can remember is where it happened from:

A team of OBs came one fellowship, and their leader, Joshua Kintu said,

“The Holy Spirit is here…and He’s about to fill a number of you.”

I never quite understood that phrase. All I remember was, I took on a posture of total surrender, as I shut my eyes. I’d hear some children falling around, I never comprehended that either… but as my mind proceeded in wonder, something peculiar happened. The words that were proceeding out of my lips suddenly changed.

From sounding English, I began to sound like I was uttering gibberish.

I restrained myself from speaking any further.

Later, I met the young man who had prayed whilst I received this weirdness. He told me,

“That’s it! The baptism of the Holy ghost! You can pray in Tongues!”

“But it sounds funny! Ununderstandable!”

“You’re not supposed to understand it, albeit to interprete it, you may!”

“I hope I’m not forcing it!” I gritted.

“Nop. If you were, then it wouldn’t have been weird. It always starts like that for all of us.”

That night I left with many question marks. I had heard of this precious gift and how I prayed I wasn’t disrespecting or dishonoring it in anyway.

“Just practise praying in it!” Those were the last words that young gentleman said to me that day.

What began as broken gibberish became a familiar language soon. Yes, I still wouldn’t stand it, but there was something eternal about it! My body gave way to the Spirit’s will with ease, and the more I spoke in tongues, the more my intellect got affected positively.

The once hard-to-understand-scriptures became walkovers. I outgrew milk and desired meat. Prayer became much easier to do, and hard not to make a lifestyle. My languages couldn’t sustain me an hour in the throne room with God but Tongues took me to another level, being able to enjoy hours & hours in ministering to Him.

It was such pulchritude! And I owe it to this event; the six books that came out of me, the immeasurable revelations that have gushed out like a fountain from my belly, the ability to demystify and to build faith, and yes, even most of my life-changing blogs, they too became due to this beautiful encounter.

Eleven years down the road and more to go…

And this sign still follows.

I desire that above all gifts you can receive, you come upon this one first, unwrap it and enjoy it.

It’s the best axis anyone’s prayer life could revolve around!
