Pray Ye The Lord Of The Harvest

Matthew 9:37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly [is] plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.

2nd January was the day! Exactly two months ago. I must warn you I’m not sure whether I was in the flesh. For a series of visions happened while I was awake…

They were live…

My mom owns over 3 acres of land on which sit a mighty garden. It was time to harvest maize. We began to pluck ears of corn. One by one. My mom warned us of dangerous insects, I shrugged, shunning her advice.

At one point, I felt jolts of electricity zap me. I jumped up. One of those insects had just stung me. My hand swell. Oh my God it swell so big it looked obese.

I carried on with the other. We finished a sample. Collecting a simple hill of maize. That was Day 1. The following day we returned. Dear God… The sheaths of the maize cut us. Our skins grew several rashes and blisters from using the pangas…

We toiled away in the heat, sweating all day looking forward to leaving as soon as yesterday. Mom is a hard worker. She found us a shade and jackfruit. Cut it, made us eat and then got back to work. It was about 1:45pm.

As we continued, a great cloud came over the sun and covered it for the next one hour or so… We were saved! We completed Day 2 in a cool shadow of a cloud. An uncle came in with his double cabin and other two gentlemen.

I called them reinforcement. They quickened up the loading of the maize upon the track and we left at about 3pm. We discovered that termites had built under the harvested maize and had tried to feast on it… But we carried it all away!

Day 3 was already upon us and we had every reason not to come…but Mom loves work!

‘You either go or no meals for you!’

Her statements got us slouching out of the house dragging our boots. More rashes, more blisters, but the joy that we were completing a certain patch of maize motivated us. Soon, after day 4,5,6 — 2 weeks… the final heap of 1.8 acres of maize was upon a truck, being conveyed home.

At home, an older sibling had began removing the dry husks off the maize exposing the real corn. That is left under the sun to dry and it’s later taken to a machine and the seeds converted into maize flour…

Close to a tonne was harvested!

I observed all that, and later, God spoke clearly…

1. The Harvest is plenty but the labourers were few. When my uncle came in with more men God said that signified how He’ll send more men to help with the harvest!

2. The Dangerous insects represent a few minor pressings and persecutions…but we shall not be destroyed. (2 Cor 4:8-9)

3. The bruises and the rash are a price we have to pay, just like some fins cut the fisher men…but that’s all a good problem.

4. The cloud was a reminder that God is with us as we harvest. He won’t let us be scorched by the sun that shines by day, nor the moon by night. In his shadow we continued to harvest hopefully & restfully unlike those subjected to the curse.

5. The termites represented the enemy who creeps in at night to try to steal the harvest. The enemy who tries to return what is from the ground back to the ground, making it of no use, degenerating our energy and degrading the fact that we sweated to get that maize off its stems and unto the collection point. But thanks be to God, who never let the termites reach on time. They’d eaten a few husks but none of the grain! What a save!

6. Notice that final picture! As I took it, God said ‘Each grain represents a soul!’

My goodness. I was overwhelmed. These must be 6 billion souls! That maize was alot and approximately each cob bears 500-700 grains of seed. Now get that and multiply it by….eh. My mind is even freezing over this!

What good news! That the Lord is with us as we cast our nets to bring in the harvest! I know this message is not for me alone! God seeks to let someone out there know that He’ll bring more labourers, that He’ll bring reinforcements, that He’ll make the harvesting much easier by creating a cloud over you…and that none of the souls won over will lose their way or fall back unto the termites.

He’s alive and alert watching over His word to perform it! The bruises are what comes with it! But it’s okay. Those are a light affliction! Let’s get out there and bring in the souls!

Thank you Lord for this word! Thank you for sending in your labourers! Both us who’ll save another person’s loved one and another person who’ll lead our loved ones to you, in case they are far out of our reach.

Thank you God, For before we call you’ve already answered us…

Matthew 9:38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
