The Mystery of Christmas

Last Saturday I attended Cantata, an awesome Christmas production presented yearly by Watoto Church. Mysteriously, there was a common verse that kept coming to my mind. Everywhere I looked, there it was.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I [must] decrease.

Many times even if I trust him, I feel like I try to steal God’s show! I fail to recognize that fact that it’s not all about me! We sing Jesus at the centre of it all… But, deep down, we want some shine all to ourselves.

The production always amplifies the fact that Jesus is the reason for the season. I got bitter along the play! I asked Jesus as I watched,

“Why does it always have to be about you?”

He replied, calmly,

“Because…it was all about you when I was born!”

Goosebumps crept allover me. Something hit me. How deep was this answer! It cut deep beyond the marrow of my bone and the substance of my soul.

You see when Christ was born, though an infant he was, what was on his mind was you! He grew in wisdom so that He’d show you how you’d live your life!

He raised the dead to show you that you could. He cast out demons to show you that you could. He then died to restore your position as a Son unto God… a King & a Priest unto Him. To him, it was all about you!

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Jesus has a government & the scripture says it shall have no end! We are that government, and we cause the no ending. The Mystery of Christmas is to give ourselves away just like Christ gave himself to us.

He’s the head and we are the body. When pain is received in a body part, impulses are sent to the brain in the head. The head feels it! The head can’t say it doesn’t need the hand. And the leg won’t receive instruction of impulse to move without the head.

In the same way, it’s an other’s affair. The whole reason is to see that we can’t do without the other. But mainly to realize that just like Christ made it all about you in his walk of life on earth, you ought to make it all about him in your walk on earth!

This aligns us to Agape, and weeds out the weed of self, which if not dealt with leads to pride, and a fall proceeds pride!

Now I know how it’s not about me, sometimes you will never understand it when you’re told ”it’s not about you”, I pray God himself, on top of what He revealed to me, may reveal to you what that truly means!

Merry Christmas…🌲
