Favor With God

Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭52‬ And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.

Favor with God is not necessarily measured by how many promotions we get, or how much increase in business we burgeon. After a long, intimate moment with God (one time while I was having a bathroom break), I realized the first measure of favor is simply God talking to you! — Or being with you.

And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭28‬, ‭30‬)‬‬

In the text above, you can see the evidence or the definition of favor with God: Him being with you . . . talking to you or communing with you.

For Mary, God sent her a messenger to deliver such good news; after the Pentecost, we count ourselves blessed that His Spirit chose to dwell within us and never to depart — till the end of the age!

But how many people has He not dwelt in yet?

How many have not heard His sweet voice?

When I think of them, I count myself extremely lucky, just to know He won’t leave me nor forsake me. His voice seems to be commonplace to me, but I wonder about he or she who know not how to describe it!

This is a redefinition of favor: that God is with us firstly — that God is with you or chose to be with you! And all these other advantages … all these other blessings are circumstantial evidence, of that being with you!

Rejoice in that regard! That He dwells in you. Rejoice that you know His voice! You have found favor with Him!
