Your Success & Your Family

Following Joseph’s story, I have come to believe, that your success apart from your family may not be God’s will. I understand that not all families are perfect, and some could have long rifts existing in their midst. But if anyone was entitled to take revenge in such a scenario, it’d have been Joseph.

At the mention of that experience, God elucidated, “That is why I am using Joseph…”

He had all rights to hate his family. Yes, his brothers sold him! Why help them now that I have made it? He must have thought. But when wisdom took his reins, he discovered that what had been meant for evil turned for good.

This may not be the case always. You may not be sold, but a family member may do something so grave you hate them so deeply moving forward.

Before Joseph came to that conclusion, he battled with forgiveness. He even plotted to have his brothers fettered. God worked on him, and eventually, he had to extend the favor and wealth that God had given him to his brothers and their families and his father and all those under him!

It would be wicked if Joseph saved the entire Egypt — the entire world in fact (for the famine had hit its entirety at that point), and yet not be able to save his own blood.

It’d still be sad if you are a preacher of the gospel, and God enables you to save millions and millions, turning them unto righteousness, and yet your children or near family members do not receive Christ.

In His efforts to use you, He is mindful of those around you, and of your house. Psalm 115:12 ends saying ‘He will bless the house of Israel, He will bless the house of Aaron.’

He will bless THE HOUSE … not just its head. Not just Aaron — but your entire house!

So, initially, if you were the such who was indifferent and uncaring about how your family is doing — and are well capable of blessing them, or lifting them, may God help you reach out; or may He show you how to help them. And in the end, they will ask ‘why are you being good to us?’ ‘Why are you doing this yet we were evil towards you.’

That goodness will even cause them to repent and turn to your Lord.

But in other cases, if you don’t see the saving happening, that is when you take it to prayer, and travail, that God makes a way. His hand is not shortened. That in the event that you can’t reach some of them, that He sends someone to their aid. Amen and amen!

I Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires ALL men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
