Consequences of Ignorance

We must read our Bibles! If not we shall become victims of lies and ignorance.

I once attended a friend’s father’s burial service. The chaplain there spoke in a manner indifferent from God, and worst of all she painted her accusations on God.

While she preached, she said, “You might be here, and God ordained it that you would live up to 22. If you are 20, that means you have two years left on earth.”

Now, of course many have died at such an age, or even lower, but that shouldn’t make us label God something other than who He is, nor His word.

What that woman said could have traumatized any young adult, especially those who do not know God’s word at a deep level. They will be convinced that God’s will for them is a short life.

The problem with this; is the miseducation and misinforming of listeners. It is the same with people who say ‘God gives and takes away.’ Those were Job’s words. It wasn’t the truth. John 10:10 states — and this was the truth (Jesus) in flesh speaking, that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.

It is the enemy, not God who destroys. Having read the story of Job, you know it was the devil who didn’t give, and yet took away!

A preacher once said ‘an ignorant christian is a defeated christian,’ and so, from the pulpit, men shall pick the concept: that God decides a short or long life for them. The devil will then use that against them. They will not contend for the promise: with long life, I will satisfy you.

The fact that God gives clues on how to lengthen one’s life means He is rooting for your length of days. He says if you honor your father and mother, you will live long in the land He is giving you. (Exo 20:2)

In Psalms 34, He asked, ‘Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good?’

Then He replied saying, ‘Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.’
‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭12‬-‭13‬)

In fact, God gives us a choice, as Moses said, ‘Death and life are set before you. Choose life.’ So God won’t decide for you whether short or long, but He’ll leave it up to you. Those who say all power is in His hands must remember He gave them will. If He could overrule everything, then He might as well used His power to stop Eve from eating the fruit…

She chose … !

Now, we choose death when we choose lies. Proverbs says ‘as a man thinks, so he is.’ The thing about not knowing the truth is, we tolerate things such as the chaplain mentioned. When we believe them, our mentality is tuned to meditate ‘long life is not a guarantee.’

We start to think ‘God decides how long, and if he decides only 30 years for me, then let His will be done…’

You see, in the Bible, God hints or describes His idea of long life! He once said 120. (Gen 6:3) Thus, it was giving you a template for what long life should be to you. But the Bible also mentions people breaking this cap! Jehoiada, a high priest died at 130! (2 Chron 24:15) Despite the fact that God had said men’s days wouldn’t exceed 120!

That to me speaks that one can decide how long they want to be here. The power of the mind is such that if you make it up, and are one with its belief, nothing can be reprimanded from you. I remember the builders of Babel! God said that of them. (Gen 11)

So, I believe it can be applied here as well. Some of the long livers, especially in the setting I’m writing from, have developed mentalities and convinced consciousnesses. Just like during the covid lockdowns, when they said words like, ‘Our family doesn’t suffer such diseases’, they say, ‘Our family has long-life genes.’ And surprisingly, such as these, don’t succumb to most dreaded pestilences; and about the long life — it follows.

Now you might say, ‘how about accidents?’ This is where divine intervention is employed. Psalms 91, helps to shape our belief in divine protection; of angels, and the Lord Himself. In that chapter, He said that evil would befall you, and no plague would come near your dwelling. Unless you don’t believe in God’s might, and ability, you’ll doubt these. But if you do, they will drive out the fear of other perceptions other men, and the surrounding will try to impose.

Somewhere in Psalms, He says ‘none of their bones shall break…’ Carrying the awareness of these creates the atmosphere of manifestation for these.

Of course speaking these truths is an added advantage: for out of the abundance of your heart’s belief your mouth speaks. (Matt 12:34) Like God spoke in the beginning, your speech will make them BE!

The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Hear this good news and receive faith! Hear this good news and preach faith! Tell your children and loved ones about it; and there we can attempt to quell the consequences of ignorance that have gone before us, and then we shall save God’s people from perishing, due to a lack of knowledge.

Long life is real! Long life can be attained! I pray for you, that God might steer you in this direction of this will for you! His word says in Psalm 128 that you would see your children’s children. This is a promise that depends on your staying around for a little bit longer. For if say you gave birth (in others’ description) late, you will wait as well, long enough for your children to mature enough to have their children.

If say you gave birth at 40 (worst case scenario), and your child gave birth in his or her 40th as well, that means you’ll have 20 years to enjoy that grandchild. God adds you 20 extra, to enjoy that child. Then at their 40th, you can see generation 4. Of course for many by 100, they have seen generation 5, however.

The other excuse I can give, is, Proverbs 13:22 says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. If we are considering the worst case scenario, it might take long enough for one to build something so large that he or she can apportion to all his or her grand children. We are talking massive wealth here.

Genuine wealth takes good time of study, and skill, and discipline to increase and keep flowing; so the longer one is around, the longer the wisdom to keep the wealth flowing marinates and gets taught or instilled in the children.

If these don’t convince you, then I have one last reason: Eternity is forever. If our lives won’t compare to how long we shall exist there, then why not max out the earthly time! If eternity is an entire continent’s sand shore, our individual earthly lives are but one grain of sand!

O May God help you and me, and empower us by His Spirit, with more revelation and wisdom to enable us be around long enough to fulfill our individual purposes, and also fulfill every promise and prophecy He pronounced over us, way long before we were ever even formed in our mothers’ wombs!

II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,
