On Christmas, I watched a video by a comic influencer about a conversation between Mary and Joseph. It heated up at some point as Joseph — with sarcasm, asked how Mary was still a virgin yet pregnant!
“It is a miracle.” Mary said.
Joseph retorted, “That is no miracle. Parting the red sea — Now that was a miracle.”
…
I then thought; when did we fall to define miracles? why is it that only what makes sense should be listed or qualified?
Just when the world was at peace, water turned to wine! And then bread and fish multiplied! And then Peter walked on water!
I can only conclude: that God still has new tricks under His sleeves. And not that He can’t do what He has already done! But just maybe it is human to get bored with the usual — even if its extraordinary miracles. I’m certain a virgin birth would sell more newspapers than ‘another eye opened.’
Knowing this condition, God even wrote that He would do a new thing, and that you would see it! He said He has prepared for those who love Him what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no mind has perceived.
I am not undermining miracles — even those that seem usual. And I know most may not comprehend how opening a blind eye is so miraculous to one who needs it. But I know, you might need an unusual miracle! And I pray God does it for you! And enlarges your expectation and room for all new tricks He has under His sleeves!
And when He does them, or if He does them for those around you, I pray you believe!
He’s still in the business of the new! And may that new come your way! This new year!
Happy New Year!
