Why Diligence!

Proverbs 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

On Saturday, as I rode to meet a client and write on his son’s wedding invitation cards, this word of the Lord came to me!

As usual, the emphasis was to ‘kings and not mean men.’ At that point in time, God reminded me of Joseph! While in prison, Joseph interpreted the dreams of two men; one was later sentenced to death. The other, promised to tell the king about Joseph, but his forgetfulness can be labelled as some form of ‘meanness.’

In life, you will meet some mean men; but as surely as the word of God is true, your path shall end up at the gates of kings! The cup bearer’s forgetfulness — which you realize was God-ordained — lifted when the king dreamt.

Finally, Joseph stood before the king and not only did he wow him! He spoke wisdom, and provided a solution to the riddle. The king saw no one else fit to execute the solution but Joseph, and so he was exponentially promoted: From prisoner to prime minister! From a nobody to the second most powerful man in the nation!

How many years and experience do people need to climb the ladder of say civilian to vice president? Many! And a lot of experiences and networks!

And not only did Joseph benefit from that promotion! His 11 brothers and father did! Their wives and children did! Their grand children did! Their great grand children did! Up to four generations in a space of 400 years benefited from one man’s standing before kings!

Can you see the IMPACT of standing before a king!?

Daniel as well was brought unto King Belteshazzar under the condition that an excellent spirit was found in him. I define excellence as the point beyond good. Good can be mopping a house! Excellent is dusting the tables and TV cabinets, sparing not the cobwebs as well, and going that extra mile.

After Daniel interpreting the dream, he was promoted again! The king — like for Joseph, sought to put him over all the princes and presidents. For your own information Belteshazzar wasn’t just a king to one country — no! He was over a province or you can say ‘empire.’ That province had about 100 countries or nations within it! That’s like being a king over the entire African continent! That was a whole different level from Joseph’s, even if Egypt was the strongest civilization then.

Joseph and Daniel have their own definitions of diligence and excellence; and if you can’t understand the words you can google them. However, God used them to show you what it means to stand before kings, and what you should expect your diligence to do for you!

Kings today are men that will pay you double or triple your value. These are men that won’t complain about how pricey you are, but cover every charge! But beyond that, I see them as men or women God can use to change your destiny and life! Because you see, Joseph could have been given an option of asking for a reward, but what if he asked for only his freedom! He could have not saved his family and the unborn generations in return!

So, God thought it wise, to leave the decision to Himself and decree it through a king, because kings’ rewards come from a higher altitude which many of us might never have dreamt of our entire lives! As he seeks to employ you that you not only acquire mansions but also lands and fortune, you might ask for only a small house — and even yet timidly!

In fact, if God does it, He saves you from small petitions!

So I pray for you today; that God continues mining excellence out of all you do! That God makes whatever is on your life to WOW men! That the news of your diligent work be carried to the palaces abroad until these kings tell other kings about it — making all of them come to your rising! Like Egypt, may the rulers command the favor of their nations as well to come to your light! Until your entire life is peculiar by the Lord’s doing, evoking men to wonder of His glory … which is you!

And may you in turn, lift other men and reward them in ways that will change the trajectory of their lives, and their families and their generations to come; for when the kind of anointing on Joseph lands on you — the anointing that comes with an excellent spirit and diligence — it is defined as a kingly one! Which makes you a king as well — (or a queen) that can now be a Pharaoh to another Joseph; transforming lives and lifting them from miry clay, setting their feet on rocks and hills, as your Heavenly Father does!

In all you do, keep diligent! Stand out in your endeavors! Blessed week ahead!

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; I Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭

… and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬
