The language before Babel was understanding!
Today, even if languages are many, one is able to watch a whole Korean series yet African! This is because of the technology of subtitles which can make the viewer understand the foreign displays.
We also see English voice overs over Al Jazeera videos from the middle east; quickening our understanding. Even authors today have their books translated in various languages just to push the agenda of understanding, and this understanding will deliver the message behind the communication.
If two people joke in a foreign language, and laugh out loud, but you bear language barrier, you won’t laugh equally!
My theory leads me to conclude that indeed the true language lost at Babel was understanding. Now, if you do not understand the Bible, you still lack that language. Many christians cry about the Bible being a boring book. Could it be, that the allegory of Babel is reenacting!
Thankfully the Holy Spirit is the Subtitle. And it is not just a mere man voicing over, or a mortal man’s typed-in tech. This Holy Spirit is the same author of what we are reading, and He is able to both interpret the language of God’s word … AND teach it to you — the poems, the prophecies, and the parables!
At Babel’s tower, understanding between men was discontinued; mainly because the understanding between GOD and man had already been sabotaged! What He needs us to acquire; is firstly understanding between us — you and Him, and understanding between you and men will ensue.
This understanding consists of your purpose, and the reason why you were created. Lest you spend your life misfiring, building towers to Heavens that you were never meant to …thinking you are doing what you were made for, and yet you are 1000 miles from the direction you are meant to take!
So I pray that old prayer … that 1000 plus years old prayer, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling (through you), (and) what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints… (Ephesians 1:17-18)
Amen and Amen
