The Daniel 6 Censures

In Daniel 6, haters of our protagonist are seen plotting. The cause? The excellent spirit on Him!

Daniel 6:3-4 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

When they could find no occasion against him according to the law of the world, they sought one against him according to God’s law;

Daniel 6:5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

They advised the king to set up a royal statue that if any man petition any other god or man except the king, he be cast into the den of lions. The king signed the decree and passed it as law. Let’s read what followed next;

Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Now, this is interesting. The Bible says Daniel prayed thrice a day as he did AFORETIME. This was his custom. This was his habit — thrice a day! But his windows were open this time around! I do not know the intention with which God had this included. Maybe Daniel forgot to close his windows this time. Maybe the prayer was targeted toward the decree and he was praying of its undoing over the city!

Regardless, he did not flinch at the threat. He carried on with his custom.

The presidents and princes below were not attacking Daniel for his tri-ritual. They were against him being elevated above them. You could find your prayer life being attacked but it was not the main target, your results, and favor with men could trigger the resistance. Laws could be passed nationally, all because the devil senses that you are about to be the King’s hand and advisor and he may no longer have an input in the politics and governance of the entire nation or empire.

Be it may, do not forsake your altar nor abandon your secret place!

Jesus hanged out with sinners. Jesus did not sin per se but the pharisees sought to find fault with Him and the law. How dare he supper with tax collectors! How dare he pardon the prostitute! Yet the law states they be stoned!

Expect such. The devil no longer has anything of the world against you. But perhaps he can find fault with you in Zion.

He will manipulate the word of God against you! Or make you manipulate it to suit your sin. Even after having given, he will guilt trip you by saying you should give so much more — to a point where you even have nothing left for you! You might ignore the guidance of the Spirit and His fruit: self control.

To suit your sin, I have seen people claim that He turned water to wine, and so they justify their over-drinking. Oops!

I have seen youth being invited to feel free and pray on the church grounds; times later, they appear to be a threat, and are called a cult by the very proposers of the invitation! This is the same thing that happened to Daniel.

Parents forget that there are kids out there wasting their lives; and now fellowship and prayer is being overdone!

The devil seems to be winning … but you, bear this wisdom, and draw a clear line, between the devil finding fault in the brethren with God, so that you do not find yourself being used to attack your kin — those on your side! For a kingdom divided cannot stand; even the devil knows that!

He will stir up wars and stupid grudges amidst church denominations, and we will fight each other, instead of occupying … and we will stay around one mountain, instead of taking the gospel to all ends of the earth.
