God brought Deuteronomy 8:18 to mind again today. He reminded me that Isaac unblocked or ‘unstopped’ wells already built by his father Abraham during the famine in the valley of Gerar in Genesis 26.
The water was needed. But the work was not to construct new founts. They were already existent!
The scripture says God has given us the power to GET wealth, and not to MAKE wealth. Like I emphasized in part 1, the wealth must already be there for God to use this choice of language. We are not MAKING wells. We are merely GETTING water from them. And wells here could represent portals through which wealth is flowing!
Abraham inherited the entire world by the covenant God made with Him, and we his children, this inheritance was passed to. No wonder rest is emphasized in the New Testament.
No wonder Proverbs says ‘Labour not to be rich: Cease from thine own wisdom.’ (23:4) Our wisdom states we must work to MAKE wealth; but we must work to GET wealth. We are not manufacturing what isn’t existing. We are getting what is already, which is only invisible or not accessible yet. For if we say God is going to bless us only through our jobs, then how can you explain it when someone walks up to you and says ‘God has instructed me to give you this land and houses?’ . . . Did that come by your job? No! That’s inheritance locating you.
Lord open our eyes to these wells. We find them. They find us! Lead us to these sources of still waters, and enable us gain them back from the ‘Philistines;’ that we may reign as kings and priests unto thee. We cease from our own wisdom, and employ yours.
