Call the Things that are not | Do not Consider …

Last night before bed, I asked the Holy Spirit to guide me on the meditation I would require for today. This morning the word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘Call the things that are not.’

This is a characteristic mentioned of God our father, and in essence, if we come from Him, then we somehow, have to bear this characteristic as well. As He is, so are we in this world His word says of us still, and He continued to say, ‘Some of the things you need are not to be asked for — but called.’

Our case study in Romans 4 elucidates this, as verse 17 says God called Abraham a father even before Abraham was. Hebrew scholars emphasize that in that language, it is written that God never said to Abraham ‘you will be…’, He always said ‘you are…’ and to ameliorate this, He throws it in the past, for once upon a time, all you pray for eventually become the past. So, you might as well start living like it:

“(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; [note the ‘I have made’]

My eyes were opened to something new this time. The antecedent or the other side of this double edged sword: who gives life to the dead. Jesus said He is the resurrection and the life. If He’s in you, if you’ve understood that, then as you call things that don’t exist, you enliven, animate, and inspirit them! By the fact that you are a giver of life by His spirit, the things you call shall be as you call them. The trick — after understanding your nature — will be fixing your language.

No wonder Jesus says ‘Lazarus, come forth!’ Lazarus was dead, but the giver of life was calling … I think, what we’ve been calling hasn’t manifested because we missed that knowing that the spirit of life that gives life to our mortal bodies as Romans 8:11 says, is in us. Emmanuel means God is with us; thus ‘giving life to the dead’ is our ever present element, component and state.

Once that has sunk, we shift onto the next requirement God’s been teaching me for weeks. Abraham is said to have received the promise, but He did not consider his own body. (Rom 4:19) Yes, many of us are calling the things that are not! But as we try to give them life — we take it!

How? We consider so many things!

We say we lend to many nations! Then we dwell so much on the how! How can I lend? How can it be? I’m even the poorest from my tribe! Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Can any good thing come out of Lesotho? How can I lend to a nation — if I have failed to lend to my neighbor! In fact, I am in DEBT! We overwhelm our small brains and reality, choking the possibility of this seeming impossibility, like the thorns in the seed parable!

Abraham could have chosen to say ‘No man at this age can give seed.’ He’d have considered his body’s age — but He considered the one who spoke: that He is not a man that He should lie! And when Sarah did the same, her womb opened.

So as you call that thing today, consider this one thing: that you are a giver of life. Do not consider your personal economy or that of your country. Do not consider the doctor’s report. Do not consider your educational background. Do not consider your financial background or account balance. Do not consider your skin color.

Consider only that your word will not return void! Consider only that He that promised you long life, is faithful enough to keep His promise!

Now call again, with this understanding. Keep calling with thanksgiving! Call like it’s a done and past deal! You’ll be smiling soon.

You can as well smile now. For it’s a done and past deal.

Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬-‭21‬ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

    2. Hello ‘Anonymous’. Things that are not are the unexistent things you might want, but are nonexistent at the moment! Now, imagine acting like they are already existent. Period. You want a child — acts like a pregnant woman would. Shopping baby clothes, pacifiers, etc.

    1. Usually, i have asked the Holy Spirit to tell me what to do by faith for a specific thing. I say, ‘what can i do to prove that i have received this thing.’ Last Saturday, He woke me up at 2 after that prayer. He made me write in my diary words to prove that my debtors had paid. The words were ‘YOU HAVE RECEIVED (the amount of money) FROM (the debtor’s names & phone) ON (date), ID, etc… like how you’d receive cash from a bank or mobile money. I then felt a peace that sort of assured me that I had called the thing was not, the most proper way!
