Sin of Sins

We live in a world, where sin is graded. In Jesus’ times, adultery seemed to be the sin of sins: the highest of ranks and number one on the list. Other sins called it sin, and the flaw in that is; the lower sins start to fade, and focus the law on that particular one, forgetting about themselves. Typical of pharisees, don’t you think?

I came across the above text off X, where obviously, homosexuality was being potrayed as adultery back then. It’s most indeed the sin of sins today, causing havoc wherever it is mentioned (especially in my setting in Uganda) and in this case, the author fighting homosexuality by having intercourse with the opposite sex.

The kingdom of darkness has thrown us many atimes in delusions and distractions. When we were younger, sex before marriage was abominable. That stuff led many of our parents’ relationships with their siblings end, or stagger. The worry was bringing an entire extra human being to care for, think for and feed, when the person creating the human is also still being cared for, thought for and being fed! Such has led to dumping of babies at rubbish pits, or in latrines, or abortions, or severing of ties.

In common conversations today, people throw about phrases like, ‘I’d rather have sex before marriage than with a fellow male or female.’ Well, I’ve heard of scenarios where even when protection is used, it falls short: a condom can tear you know! Or have a crevince!

And even if the phrase or ‘protection’ sound better, both scenarios (homosexuality or sex outside matrimony) are still condemnable to God. But in our tiny & vain human traditions, we’ve silenced the oracles of God to justify our lusts, and we point the blame on the sin of sins, to appear as if it’s the only definition of sin.

This is another wile of the enemy children, because to God, unbelief of the Christ, is the s.o.s (pun intended). So, as we scuttle about pointing fingers, we have neglected the main thing that will drag people to hell unbeknownst to them; Maybe, just maybe, instead of focusing on that sin or the other, instead of condemning that sin and the other, we ought to preach Jesus, crucified and resurrected. It’ll be up to the person to either believe or not.

Because you see, we are attempting to cure a disease (or name which one’s worse or deadly) and not lauding the prevention or immunisation of all. As we conclude that malaria is the most dangerous, covid 19 rises from nowhere and takes out millions. We are busy studying each leaf, finding which is more wizened than the other, losing vision that the whole tree has to go down. Beware of this distraction, children.

It distracts us of the true antidote, and also makes many think they are better off than the adulterers or homosexuals. I’ve come to realize there’s so much to deal with in each of us even after believing on Christ. The sin of sins suddenly, to an individual, becomes relative. To one, God will convict of gluttony. To another, God will convict of slander. It ceases to be pharisaical, but humbling by the slap called ‘let he without sin cast the first stone.’

Any generation’s sin of sins might be louder than one’s secret struggle, but never find yourself; 1) to be righteous by your own works in God’s eyes like that parable Jesus gave; 2) judging others for their sin 3) valuing one sin higher than the other and 4) preaching against the sin louder than you’re proclaiming Christ the antidote.

For if I have known sin — ‘know’ is such a big word — if I have observed sin, many are not happy about what they are doing. They in fact are more like slaves, seeking out of Egypt, seeking out of the chains that shackle them. Others find themselves doing the thing they didn’t intend to do, which Paul as well faced; but it gets demonic when one is happy about their sin and are not willing to let it go. Regardless, I will practise what I just preached: Jesus can fix these all!

He stands there, in your room, knocking on your heart’s door, let Him in. Say His name. Tell Him you believe He died with your sin, and raised without it. Tell Him you believe He’s your cleansing, and that He can dwell in your heart.

For those that already had Him, He’s knocking on the other doors within your heart. Let Him in to those rooms. He already knows what’s weighing you down, and He comes to exchange your heavy burden with a lighter one!

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.
