Distractions

I find messing with the fundamentals preposterous.

We all experience minor distractions in life: straying in the explore section and spending hours on reels, watching a movie just as we were about to watch sermon, … et cetera.

These all kill our time. The enemy stays us, or delays us just a bit longer enough to miss the ark. Suddenly, the rains start, and when we run to it, the door has been shut behind Noah!

Redeeming time is a very crucial matter in these times. Ephesians 5:15-17 states that the marks of wisdom are this redemption of time and understanding God’s will!

The devil then continually attacks these fruits of wisdom. We can’t redeem time (or spend our time worthily/accurately) because of small distractions. Just as soon as we’ve begun reading His word (will), we get swayed as we google Hebrew and Greek lexicons ending up somewhere we hadn’t planned to.

But, but … there are major distractions too. Distractions concerning sexuality: this is an example of the fundamentals. A male has a pintle, and a female has a ‘v’. That must be enough to differentiate the genders. Everything else is a distraction. When men begin telling of how they feel they are women within, or how it’s a mistake that they are male, we all stop to watch and debate and counsel and strain — sometimes in vain — making us regret the time we wasted arguing. In that time we wasted, an extra soul has gone farther in their journey of addiction. Or perhaps you’d have met them in ten meters, but you stopped to watch and debate and wonder where your seat will be in heaven!

We then start attacking one leaf of the tree of sin instead of the entire tree. We then trade the gospel of the kingdom with the gospel of compromise — the gospel of salvation with the gospel of threats.

We forget we are wrestling with principalities and invisible powers, and not with flesh. The distractions are as many as how much our ignorance of God’s will is. We fight each other in the brethren court, forgetting that a kingdom divided cannot stand. Doctrines have come up as to when one must be married. We then get distracted to pray into marriage yet we were supposed to be praying for the destiny help we were to offer to someone.

The bigger issue is discernment of our individual times. When are we supposed to be where as per God’s book concerning each one of us? We pray to God to give us the dream cars yet we are supposed to be praying for clarity in our purposes or assignments.

Beware of the distractions around you son.

Beware of the distractions around you daughter.

The serpent still slithers today and hisses, “Did God really say…?” We then set into a downward spiral course of defending Him, or investigating… Ah, another distraction!

Beware of the distractions around you son.

Beware of the distractions around you daughter.

May you hear His voice tell you, “This is the way that you must tread. Walk ye in it.” At crossroads, may He tell you to turn to the right or to the left. May He silence the irrelevant noises and voices. May His be loudest; and like Samuel, may you say “Master speak, your servant heareth…”

2 Timothy 2:16-17 But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness. And their teaching [will devour; it] will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene…
