Proverbs 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
The Bible promises that for the diligent, they won’t stand before mean men. The meaning of diligent I understand you know, and we’ve heard this preached many times with the theme of diligence being expounded; but today, I seek to navigate other subjects here, specifically mean men …
Let’s talk about those for a moment;
The prophecy declares that the former shall stand before kings. In Uganda, I can say there are so many diligent people; but so many businesses are not entreated with honor and glory deserving.
The Bible has called believers kings and priests unto God. Kings! But shockingly, these kings have switched places and exchanged birthrights like Esau. It’s wearing; that the people who have been given power to get wealth, are always asking for discounts!
It’s disappointing, when the ones who have been blessed to lend to nations, don’t carry the same understanding that one day they’ll, and because they feel the things are too expensive, the promise is prevented. The work they should have done to concrete their faith has been discarded, and remember; faith without works is dead!
Jesus said if we are not faithful in the little, we can’t be trusted with much. If small scale entrepreneurs are too high, remind yourself that kings (or queens) rarely order a meal while observing the price column! The mindset is abundance!
I’ve learnt to adopt the supermarket methodology. If what I desire is high, I return later with the value of that product. If not, I turn a blind eye and move on. I only ask for discounts if the seller has availed them. Don’t suggest them to lower the breadwinning commodity or asset of others! That makes you the mean man in this equation, and unless you repent, the diligent you exploit (those whose products you admire), will be rent from you and elevated to only those who are actually walking the king-walk and living as royals.
Many of us go and tip big waiters in fancy restaurants, but when it comes to the hawkers along the streets, we push their requests down to compromise: something we never do in supermarkets!
It’s different when you say ‘this is what I have,’ and the seller says ‘I’ll take it’, but if they refuse, walk away as royals would. If you really yearn for the product, you can let the fruit of humility clothe you and lead you to revise your fare. The Bible says we’ll do great exploits — not that we’d be great exploiters (particularly in the sense of taking advantage of people)!
The word ‘mean’ means; common, of low quality, inferior, shabby, without dignity of mind, destitute of honour, spiritless, base, ungenerous, stingy, tight-fisted, damaging, and low-minded among others.
Under wraps, this is a critical mindset issue (as the definitions have pointed out), and a mark portraying whether you’ve understood your identity as God outlined and spoke concerning you in His word!
Choose today whether to be the mean man, or the king! If you believe you’re not of low quality, or without dignity of mind, or ungenerous, or tight-fisted or damaging … then act like it! Your mission is to lend nations! And if you’re to lend billions and trillions, you better get over — or used to — losing a few thousands and millions!
Selah this! Deuteronomy 15:6 says you’ll lend to MANY nations. You can’t lend only 100 dollars to an entire nation — bare minimum must be about a billion. Now … now apply that to MANY nations! My brain has a huge wrinkle at the thought of the graveness and overwhelmingness of this!
God help us all!

Proverbs 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
Wooow Biggie!
Thank you for this word…I can’t be the mean Christian dishonoring the diligent by asking for discounts😁.
