Last Friday, I was frustrated, once again, that the dream of music publishing seems not to crack out the egg.
In deep agony I asked God what I’d be missing. This is what resonated in my spirit;
“Remember Hannah.”
So what about Hannah?! You’d be wondering.
Well, remember she — like Rachel — received no children as early and as frequent as her co-wife Peninnah. Now she wept in anguish before the Lord and somehow, she vowed. She vowed that her son would be given back to the Lord all the days of his life. . .
This boy became the last judge of Israel, and the prophet that anointed the first kings of Israel, of whom David is among. What a privilege!
We never got to hear about Peninnah’s children, nor if they did anything significant as far as the nations were concerned.
This was all a result of a change in prayer. Trust me, previously, Hannah just wanted to have a child for the sake of not being provoked by Peninnah. So that she too could not be mocked among the women — to flee the shame!
But she went beyond praying for just a child! In her weeping, her spirit defined the child’s purpose and beset it with greatness, beyond what other children’s parents could. And his boy made history! She lent Samuel to God, giving Him leeway to be a voice to a whole generation.
That’s it right there!
Immediately I turned to the wall and I began defining the ministry of each of these songs that God’s been downloading in my spirit: that they’ll be sang by all nations; that they’ll give beauty for ashes; that they’ll clothe many with robes of righteousness; that their production will be bought without money; that they’ll comfort those who mourn; that they’ll lift Jesus up and He’ll draw all men unto Himself…
On and on and on I went, and I’d feel His approval; His spirit cheering, that that was what had been missing!
Remember that God too, before making man, had the garden ready, to define man’s purpose! In the same way, we need to define our petitions.
Do not just want a husband or a wife! To what end? Aren’t there enough couples already? What will make your marriage different? Now that’s something we may not help you define, but you and God alone!
Do not just pray for your business to get out of obscurity! How will heaven benefit from its standing out? What’s that element that no eye has seen or ear heard — in it?
Remember Hannah
Remember Hannah
