I know I am not the only victim of delayed payment! A man once needed a house plan in a few days. He paid me two fifths of the cash and the rest was promised in about a week.
The week passed; and another, and another. I sent reminders. I texted but all I got were blue ticks. I called; he refused to pick up completely. One month passed. Two; three. I slowly became frustrated.
On 31st December, as we moved out church to watch the fireworks, the man and his entire family coincidentally stood behind me. I hadn’t seen him for those three months, and I wanted to go demand what was mine. At that point in time, I’d feel God hold me down, like one’s friend’s arm would beckon him or her not to make a move. He assured me that He’d handle it.
We were told to enter back into church after the fireworks display. Randomly, without my planning, I looked behind me after 10 minutes, there the person stood with his family again; as if God made him follow me. He told me vengeance was His, and so I had to trust Him.
Later, I went to the café to buy a drink. Guess what! The guy showed up, wished me a happy new year, and immediately confessed, “I haven’t forgotten about what I owe you. I’m expecting a payment and I hope to clear you with it. We’d just entered the house and so I need to recover first.”
As a good gesture, he paid the drink I was about to buy.
That was assurance enough for me, that God is determined for us to eat of the labor of our hands. Like the cloud as small as a hand that Elijah’s servant saw, I knew God would ensure the closure of this.
Obviously, not every one might get convicted to pay their debts, because they do not carry God’s spirit in them. It is even sad that some of these are fellow Christians; and when we see them lifting holy hands in church, we want to pounce on them and tear apart their clothes as if to remind them that they owe us. That’s why vengeance is His; for He knows the best way to handle any situation and character. You must incline your ear to hear His instruction on how to particularly go about ‘the demanding’.
If He tells you to forgive the debt, then that’s His will; which offers you peace of mind. If not, you’d end up taking matters in your hands: killing a man like Moses did, and you’d find yourself taking more than you were being owed.
And then you’ll find yourself — now being the one in debt; for example, how could you look in the eyes of a mother to the person you killed just because they would not pay you back a million shillings. Of course any human is worth much more than one million! But you’d find yourself in prison for murder, all because you took vengeance in your hands.
Reuben, in pursuing revenge for his father Jacob not having loved his mother Leah ended up committing unimaginable sin. He slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah! And when his father heard of it, cursed him not to excel any longer. A preacher elucidated that Reuben lost his first born privilege in this way; He lost the double portion inheritance and priestly rights. No wonder Jesus didn’t come from his lineage! O what disgrace!
But for your case, let God handle it . . . and being a God of justice, may He cause unrest in the hearts of those that owe you. Or give you the grace to hand over the situation to Him for any financial issues; or to forgive those that have wronged you in one way or another; and to provide abundantly such that you don’t need to depend on those that borrowed from you but were wicked enough to forget.

I return on 23rd January, to testify. Perhaps I forgot to mention that God will ensure that He’ll see to it that He pays want you were owed. Today (and two days ago) I received a hefty amount of money that no one has claimed. In my spirit, I felt God wink at me, saying vengeance is His: and this receival, is what He can do if we let Him fight for us!

2 Samuel 22:48 It is God who avenges me, and subdues the peoples under me…
Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Some versions say: He’ll fight for you, you won’t need to lift a finger!)
Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; [but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
