John 8:32 says “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
But what’s truth?
John 14:6 still provides the answer, as Jesus says, “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life.”
If this defined truth makes one free, that means that one is not truly free unless they have KNOWN this truth. This Jesus. Time and again I’ve expressed that the knowing derives its meaning from Genesis; ‘And Adam knew Eve.’ It’s in terms of intimacy.
John 8:36 farther says; Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
The question I ask today is; what does the son make you free from?
O! If you know the son, you are free indeed from generational curses! You are free indeed from ritual-pacts made on you while you were yet a babe.
You are free indeed from disease! You are free indeed from condemnation and judgement. The Bible says you’ll be with Him — judging (Eph 2:6). You are free indeed from your past and all those haunting records etched in stone by people. If you know the truth, you are free indeed from sin!
You are free indeed from eternal death! You are free indeed from spiritual husbands or wives. You are free indeed from any demonic oppression! You are free indeed from any pharaohic subjection or slavery. You are free indeed of Egypt! You are free indeed to dance away in lawns and meadows flowing with milk and honey.
If you know the truth, you are set free; Set free from aging. Your youth is renewed as the eagles’. You are set free indeed from insomnia. You lie down and your sleep is sweet (Prov 3:24). You are set free indeed from bondages and addictions!
If you know the truth, you are free indeed from depression! You are free indeed from sadness! You are not in need of deliverance! The ‘making you free’ is it indirectly! You are free indeed from poverty, for the truth became poor that you might be rich!
If you know the truth, then you must be free indeed from worry, for to Him, we must cast our cares and burdens once and for all, for He cares for us, affectionately. If you know Jesus you are free indeed from weariness. For to Him you came with your heavy burdens, and He gave you rest!
Now this freedom not only ends with you! It transcends confines, enabling you to pass it on to others who will need it. For if you have the defined truth (which is Jesus) then you must, in some sort of way, bear freedom with you. No wonder the scriptures say, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
Good news to the poor is freedom! Healing the brokenhearted is setting them free! Proclaiming liberty to captives is equally the same! Opening prisons, well, is opening prisons! The rest of the portion is indirectly portraying freedom in each phrase, and just like Jesus reechoed these, and implemented them, and He sits in you; it’s only a matter of time before these too you will do, coming as a result of the overflow of the chief freedom personified within you!
May God open your eyes to show you in what other ways He’s made you free and how you are freedom too — to men!
Cheers!
