John 3:16

Even if Emma had his shortcomings which he had to live with, no one wished my brother any evil but good. We wished he’d recover and gain back his sanity. My mother and aunties felt guilty for having tricked him into rehab where he met his sudden demise. They’ve not forgiven themselves yet, and the pain constantly reminds them of their actions which meant no harm. He was a man, you see. And every mention of ‘rehab’ sparked him off into flying off the handle.

Regardless, as we mourned, there He was: God. The God of heaven and earth. He said to me, “The same pain your parents feel, is how I feel. I so loved the world so much that I sent my only begotten son, so that whosoever shall believe on him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Like your mother and her relatives, none wished for Emma to perish but to have life! However clumsy or irritating or sinful a person might be, I do not will them to perish. I wish for them to believe, and to heal, that they may have eternal life.”

The heart we should all bear, brethren, is to be hopeful and patient. It’s not to rubbish or write off those who frustrate us a lot (especially those stubborn or are against the faith); but to love on them, and to pray for them, that they may not taste the fires of judgement, but live on forever.

That’s the father’s heart and this setting painted a perfect picture for it. Believe on Jesus today (if you haven’t yet), that you might not perish after you exit earth. Say ‘Lord, I accept you as my savior and Lord,’ and then, eternal life you’ll have.

May you have an encounter with Jesus today!

Ecclesiastes 7:1-4 A good name [is] better than precious ointment, And the day of death than the day of one’s birth; Better to go to the house of mourning Than to go to the house of feasting, For that [is] the end of all men; And the living will take [it] to heart. Sorrow [is] better than laughter, For by a sad countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise [is] in the house of mourning, But the heart of fools [is] in the house of mirth.
