
The sweat was dripping off his face. Except it wasn’t salty water, but actual blood.
Can you fathom, the level of stress and frustration that could cause one’s pores to thrust blood instead of sweat!
I think Jesus, the very son of God, deserves the award for best portrayal of anxiety; for however afraid any of us has been, none has ever expressed it in such a manner!
This year’s Good Friday reminded me that Jesus understands your suffering, for He suffered a degree none of us could bear.
He begged God to take away the cup. He could have commanded angels to stay His persecutors. But … He controlled Himself, and followed through.
The lashes, the torture, they all came next …
What He was strongly afraid of He faced; And the moral for me is to look at that big mountain in front of me, and be encouraged by Jesus’ experience, to say, “This too shall PASS!”
For hours became days, and three later, Jesus was whole. The pain was behind Him. The grave was behind Him. He thought He wouldn’t make it, but with God He did. He came through it all, and so will you!
In the Lugandan language we say, “KIJJA KUGWA” … Meaning, ‘it shall end’, or ‘it shall pass’.
This not only goes for the bad times, but for the waiting times as well: the seasons you wonder if God was serious about His promise.
David must have slowly let it slip into the back seat of his mind’s car β that he’d been anointed to be king!
You’d as well be waiting on God for a promise, or the way to it is so devastating, and you just want to quit the scorching desert and return to Egypt.
Tell yourself, ‘This too shall pass!’
Take heart and hang in there.
Soon, it’ll be your turn to walk out that cold tomb, having suffered all, having waited all, and having accomplished the mandate for that season, hence your reward! π
