When we were children, places seemed far. The continents were separated by vast oceans and seas. Personally, I believed we could not access one another. My then knowledge reasoned that if it was raining where we were, then it was raining everywhere; that when it was night here, it was night there.
As I grew, places stopped seeming far. The capital city was one and a half hours away. The distances I could not walk while younger, I could now move without difficulty. For the far continents, things like aeroplanes were introduced to my knowledge. I was fascinated.
There’s a place I used to go to. Years ago, I had to leave an hour early as I could only afford public transport. And to get home in time, it took about 30-40 minutes. Now, I use private means by motorbike. It takes 14 minutes. At least 10! Though this option was too expensive then, it’s affordable by me nowadays.
Where am I going with this?
God used this application towards my dreams. Years ago, dreams were what they were, just dreams. Some were just wishes; a place we could not afford. But time, becomes a beautiful friend bringing each closer to you, as long as you do believe.
At 12, I saw myself as a billionaire author. That vision or place seemed FAR. But at 23, the first book was published. Seeing the print was such an impossibility ten years ago. But we are way past that now.
We are looking at the next books.
God was telling me, that just like the publishing came to pass, the affordability becomes progressive! The far places might remain far, but they become accessible. The long journeys remain long, but the means to and from them, become faster— from 40 minutes to 10! From ships to planes!
As I meditated on these, I realized that the world becomes a small place. What we couldn’t pay for, we can now. Where we couldn’t reach, we do now. The term ‘university’ used to cause a wrinkle in our temples, back then. Now we are way past it.
The world being a small place isn’t only in terms of us sharing mutual friends or family. It’s in the fact that we get to acquire all that we’d ever once needed that pertains to life which we couldn’t at once! This is what it means to move from grace to grace, or from glory to glory — from bike to car, from car to bullet train, from train to plane, from plane to teleportation!
The things that seem unachieveable can be achieved by just the change of mindset. By understanding that patience is all we need to keep us while on our way there.
Therefore, do not cast off that dream. That Asian country isn’t as far as you think! The Indian ocean can be crossed like the Red Sea was.
The Jericho walls were high, but not as high as the sky. They too can fall!
It will get easier! It will get cheaper! You will get richer!
The idea is to break the thought process that says things are impossible! All are, to he or she, that believes! If you see the world as a small place; if you can see it fold from hundreds of kilometers, to have it’s ends as proximal to you as your neighborhood shop, then you fold far places and visions as well to be as near to you, and within reach as well.
