Dust

Psalms 103:14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we [are] dust.

As we prayed as a family this one time at 4am, we were weary and only a few of us were awake. Now having committed to do this, we often felt guilty whenever we seemed to have fallen short of God’s standards; by arriving late on the call, or dozing off amidst prayer … and the enemy was having us by the chains of condemnation.

This one time as we prayed, a sister prayed through Psalm 103, and shared what revelation had come to her. Being made of dust, God told her that He understands.

“He understands when we drift off in sleep. He understands when we are sold out but totally exhausted at times. He remembers that we are but dust. He expects much from something whose raw material is easily blown by wind, who’s like a flower, here today and gone tomorrow…”

Yes we are spirits, but the encasing of the flesh has its share of influence too.

Speaking of dust, I had this other mind blowing discovery about it months ago, as I descended down a dusty hill on my way to school. Many cars passed fast by me, and I kept on thinking I’d catch a flu.

Then I heard God say, “But you’re made of dust. What you’re made of can’t sicken you!”

Oh! Oh! Oh!

You should have seen me increase the bounce in my step. I even inhaled as much dust as I could, because my thinking had changed. I told the dust that I was it! We were of the same nature, same substance, and there’s no way it’d in the end cause a flu!

For those who don’t know where I am coming from, the origin of this was when God made Adam out of dust. And then He breathed His spirit into Adam.

This also gives us dominion over the earth. If you think of it, we are the earth that talks. We are the earth in flesh, that was breathed into by God.

The earth grows all sorts of plants, and trees… and now, I understand, that when Jesus walked to that fig tree and cursed it, it wasn’t just responding to ‘God’. By His human inheritance, Jesus was the earth in flesh speaking to a tree.

Since God during creation had said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the FRUIT tree [that] yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed [is] in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. Jesus was the earth (dust) with a mouth speaking. So the tree responded appropriately as though a child receiving a curse from a parent.

That’s why research says that if a flower is spoken ill over by anyone, it’ll die. Why? It’s because it sees the very earth (in flesh) that gives it life speaking death over it. By default, it responds to those words. And this happens whether or not a man carries the understanding that they are the earth that talks or not!

All our ability to influence other creations then comes from this very understanding. I’ve heard of testimonies where men’s cars get stuck in traffic and they lay hands on them, or command their engines to resuscitate, or instruct them to move when out of fuel and they obey. I’m reminded that on top of faith, it’s a conversation between the dominating earth and the submissive earth.

How do I mean?

The metal of the car and the rubber tyres come from alloys found in the dust (earth soil) and rubber tree respectively. The tree gets this component from the soil. And you were made out of this soil.

So when you speak, you’re exercising the God-given mandate when He said, ‘… fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’

Notice that the car also MOVES on the earth! Haha. When it — wholly or partially — malfunctions, we say the engine or radiator is DEAD. That means it’s not alive, and therefore needs CPR… If a virus moves on the earth, spreading from China to Europe, we ought to have dominion over it too. It MOVES!

When we speak to houses, they are dust in another format. The bricks, the cement, the sand they are made of, is all connected back to the dust of the earth. That means they are fellow dust. Companions with which you have a covenant (Job 5:23)… Those building materials are supposed to be kind to you! They should not collapse on you to harm just the same way the dust would not cause me a flu! That’s the power of covenant!

All this is to concrete the matter that the earth is your inheritance! Even the money that we use… the coins are refined metals from the earth; the gold is an ore refined from the same raw material that you’re made of, except it doesn’t speak! It only answers to man who has power by mouth, and was made in God’s image unlike it!

Even the gadgets that we need are refined earth — metal parts put together in a phone or television.

Those who have mastered their dominion as the earth therefore, are those who’ll freely create these things in their atmospheres, attracting them and buying them without money but with understanding and truth alone.

May you therefore dominate the earth and every form of it by your speech and your nature as dust!

Psalms 37:22a For such as are blessed of God shall [in the end] inherit the earth…
