The future shouldn’t be a Mystery

I do not know what you believe, but I am here to conclude on a matter that is debatable by many.

I am sure that the future is not supposed to be a mystery. It is not supposed to be unknown. There’s evidence in the scriptures since time immemorial.

Here’s the first story to prove my motion;

Genesis 15:13-16 Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land [that is] not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites [is] not yet complete.”

As Abraham was in a deep sleep, God opened up to him about his descendants’ future. He got to know about it.

It’s not supposed to be a question mark entirely, even for you.

Unto Pharaoh, who wasn’t God fearing at the least, was shown the future—warning of the famine to come in a dream. This was the same for Nebuchadnezzar, who in both cases needed the gifts of interpretation to decipher the dreams and vision by Joseph and Daniel respectively.

Christ the savior was spoken of by Isaiah, Ezekiel, Malachi and many others. Mary received news that she’d have child, just like Zachariah, was informed as well. She was told of how she’d become pregnant and what to name the child.

Peter was praying on his rooftop when God told him of the Cornelius he was to meet. Jesus saw Nathaniel while under a tree before he even met him. Jesus even knew that Peter would deny him thrice, and … we’d say that He was God the son—yes, but this God the son dwells in you.

Better yet, the fuel He ran on was the Holy Spirit who you too have received, hence guaranteed access not only to the future, but to the past, as well. This is a powerful thing since it enables us understand our histories better. If Moses couldn’t access the past, then the story of Abraham could not have been written, for Moses wrote the book of Genesis even when he didn’t exist when its characters did.

I could go on and on but the reason for this writing is; you should have a feel of your future. It might not be a full picture, but start by glimpses. If God enabled a man to write a whole book about lives of people he never met, including how all things were created, can He then, find it so hard to tell you who you’re to marry. Can He keep it a secret, what He has in plan for you?

He even finds it hard keeping secrets. For secrets are meant to be known by a few. In His word He says His secret is with the righteous. He wanted to do a thing to Sodom and Gomorrah but He thought of His close friend Abraham to run the idea by him who then caused God to alter His mind about destroying every human in the two cities.

We are hoodwinked by fictional superheroes that are telekinetic, but there’s an authentic being with the power that ought to awe us. He is the unction from on high who has enabled us to know all things, for He knows all things. And if He resides in you, you then realize that knowing the future is not for a chosen few.

The prophets allover spoke of what they saw, but … what enabled them to SEE? — His Spirit!

And since you too have His Spirit, you only need to know that whatever timeline in your lineage is open to your access. Firstly, you only need to know that you have the key to unlock any door in your future, and when things begin to happen, bad or good, you won’t need to panic or be caught off guard. You’ll have been strategically positioned and prepared to act appropriately.

You don’t even need to ask God to show you. He says you have His mind (1 Cor 2:16), and if this mind has knowledge of all things, you only need to spend more time with it to discover it’s wonders, or … for a shorter route, trust that the owner of that mind, can search the archives within it’s bottomless halls & libraries, and present to you the files concerning not only your future; but the future of your children, the future of their children, the future of your country, the future of your career, the future of your national sectors, the future of your continents, or the future of the world.

If the future He shows you is bad, He’ll give you ways to counteract the doom, like He did for Pharaoh through Joseph or how Abraham intervened for Lot. If it is good, then well and good.

Knowing something, I’ve realized is a proper antidote to fear. If Abraham witnessed the slavery of his children in the flesh, he’d not be moved, for there was yet another future still. God had added after the slavery that,

‘…afterward they shall come out with great possessions.’

and, ‘…they shall return here.’

Why would the suffering then cause fear? One who knew this would have based on this knowing of the future, and therefore receive comfort and strength to endure.

In the same way, may you fall so deep in love with God and the fellowship of His spirit, that every sort of knowledge you require concerning your future will automatically open up to you. Be it your next career, your next promotion, next residence, next child, next big hairy dream, next mission … it shall open up to you.

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own [authority,] but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things TO COME.

Last year, two weeks before my best friend died, I was led to pray with him as always. This time around, I was putting into action the instruction in scripture, where we are to anoint the sick as we lay hands on them. I expected to drop a few drops on his forehead as custom has it. But, I found my hands smearing Sam’s hands and entire face in the most weird and unexpected way.

It’s like I was under the influence of something else. I wondered what the Spirit was up to. On the way back from his burial, that’s when the story of Jesus and Mary’s alabaster box hit me so hard. Jesus said that when she poured oil on him, she was preparing him for his death—the thing I’d done without my knowledge!

Initially I was maddened at God that He hadn’t warned me of my friend’s death. When He opened my eyes, that I prepared his body two weeks prior, I groaned. This was after we had attempted resurrecting him of course; but if I’m to orient you back to the topic of the day, the truth is, the future had been laid out and known, even if at first I hadn’t realized it … proposing the apothegm ‘the future SHOULD not be a mystery’.
