Psalms 1:1-3 Blessed [is] the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Hello saints. Let’s explore this blessing of tree! The other day, God randomly dropped a revelation about it. He began with questioning, ‘Why the leaf?’
So, I thought about a leaf — its purpose to a tree mainly.
Leaves are mentioned in botany to bear the green coloring pigment that enables a plant to manufacture food through photosynthesis and store it. They do this by absorbing light energy from the sun as requirement to manufacture this food, and the byproducts are the release of oxygen into the atmosphere having taken in carbon dioxide prior. The manufacturing of food is seen by the many flowers, that later turn into fruit that’s eaten by man and birds and animals.
However, some trees are deciduous. They shed off leaves later in the year in case the season is harsh. That will limit the manufacture of food and oxygen alike. Such trees rarely have fruit in those seasons. But the psalmist writes to say, this kind of tree won’t wither (or lose leaf in other words). That’s basically stating, that this tree will have fruit daily for the entire year! That’s you—if you meditate on God’s word day and night.
You won’t have ‘seasons’. Every day shall be your season. We usually have mango seasons here in the tropics. For about three months, this fruit could be very prevalent at the market, and then it will not for the rest of the year. That’s dangerous. I’d equate it to a business open for only two-three months yearly. That’s not effective at all!
So, what’s God trying to say here!
The blessed man, who delights in the law of the Lord will have access to water everyday — 365 days a year! This will cause him or her not to shed off leaves (for plants do it when water is scarce)!
The need not to shed leaves will cause the leaves to stay abundant, attracting sun-LIGHT (REVELATION!!!!!) daily, which will in turn enable the tree (the person) to manufacture food (bread), not only for its benefit, but the benefit of others.
Since the leaves will be present, there will be shade, shade for birds and other animals to make home in the tree (you)! Men will find shade under the tree! On top of that, when heat comes (drought, lack) this tree shall not see it. This tree shall not succumb to the consequences of bad weather or climate…
Jeremiah 17:7-8 ” Blessed [is] the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Hence, the tree won’t fear. The birds won’t fear. The monkeys residing in it won’t either. They won’t need to shift home! That tree (you) never loses leaves or shade! And since the leaves never wither off, the home to these animals is secure, and the tree releases off oxygen (breath of life) to man and the animals and the birds — every day, 365 days of the year.
No wonder men never stopped thronging around Jesus. He was that tree. He wasn’t just an oxygen consumer. He was an oxygen supplier. And He wants you too to be the same! This, ladies and gentlemen, is what God means when He says ‘…his leaf doth not wither!’
(…And please let not ‘doth’ confuse you. It simply means ‘does’. I just like like being a little dramatic)
For that tree to experience that reality however… For you to experience this reality, you have to be blessed. The condition for this blessing is for you to delight in the law of the Lord.
More delight, More blessing!
More blessing, More leaves!
More leaves, More light!
More light, More food!
More food, More feeding!
More feeding, More blessing!
More blessing, More delight!
The feeding here is the representation of the animals coming to eat on a daily, like Adam and Eve did. Every reasonable creature that feeds off a source it doesn’t pay for must call that source a blessing. And if that source is a blessing, then that only leads to more delight in that source, by the birds, and animals, and man!
So I close by asking the questions: Do you delight in God’s word?
Is your leaf green all year? … Or does it wither throughout the year?
If yes, then keep it up!
If not, then fix your green honey!

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Exodus 23:25-26 “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
May the food you manufacture and the water you are rooted in, be blessed evermore, for the benefit of the various types of creation around you!
Ezekiel 31:4-7 The waters made it grow; Underground waters gave it height, With their rivers running around the place where it was planted, And sent out rivulets to all the trees of the field. ‘ Therefore its height was exalted above all the trees of the field; Its boughs were multiplied,
And its branches became long because of the abundance of water, As it sent them out. All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; Under its branches all the beasts of the field brought forth their young; And in its shadow all great nations made their home. ‘ Thus it was beautiful in greatness and in the length of its branches, Because its roots reached to abundant waters.
