One time I asked God why time travels much faster at night than during day!
From my experience, the days look long. But that’s maybe because by 7a.m we are up and not down by 7p.m. Though 12 hours are allocated each, we stay awake longer than we are asleep.
We rise at 7/6a.m , sleeping at about 11p.m.
That aside… God just responded, saying, time seems longer during day because we are awake… And also because there’s light. When we go to sleep, lights are switched off.
It didn’t make sense to me at first—just like you must be squinting at me demanding for an elucidation
When I twisted my face to God again, He added, “Light represents revelation. When someone has revelation of purpose, about things and life like I do, by whatever degree they have of that revelation is the same degree with which time will appear to be slow! The time won’t be slow per se…but it’ll be lived intentionally and meaningfully to the full, by whoever has ‘light’.
At night, (for the times when no moon or stars appear) there is a lack of light (revelation) and even if time hasn’t slowed or sped up, it’ll appear to run quickly! And again, time isn’t moving fast. It’s just not having purpose attached to it… So it’ll be getting wasted like water running on the ground from a tap as opposed to that which is running but being used for domestic purposes.
People’s lives get wasted when they hop here and there in search for meaning and chasing dreams that can’t bring a sense of purpose. If they so happen to find revelation or the answer to the question as to why they are here very late, many of them say ‘I wasted a lot of time’. Meaning, that indeed a lack of light leads to the senselessness of time.
Isaiah said that for one to shine, the condition would be their light (revelation) having come. Maybe you’re not ‘shinning’ in life because your revelation hasn’t come; The revelation of why you’re here; The revelation of time… The revelation of your God-designed occupation. Maybe you’re not shinning in marriage because the revelation about marriage you have not!
It’s just a thing you thought you needed to have and BAM! You’re in too deep already.
Revelation means disclosure, or manifestation of divine truth.
It not only needs to be truth, but it has to be divine as well. Yes you need to work, but not just any work. Yes you need to get married, but not get ‘just married’. Is it the work divinely appointed for you by God? Is it the marriage divinely appointed to you by God?
Arising and shining for our light has come presents to us another meaning of light. God said He is the true light that gives light to every man coming into the world (John 1:9). By this confession, He defines Himself as light. The basic light that every man and woman need (for He created them all … after all … pun intended)
The point is, if any man or woman be connected to God, they are guaranteed a sense of definition, a sense of purpose and therefore a sense of redeeming time, for if He is the light, and that you arise and shine only when your light has come, then the purpose you’d have found in Him—for your life—will drive your every day, to live it to the full, not wasting any single minute, for you know, that each day gone, is a second closer to your expiry date, and you wouldn’t want to get to Heaven, and start asking Him to send you back to earth to accomplish something you didn’t!
The sun and stars were to rule the day and night by providing light to each continuum. Once the sun understood that this was its purpose, it quickly began living intentionally each second, each day, and that sparked off its defining of time for us. When it casts a shadow right below us, we know that that’s noon. Once it’s showed up continuously 365 days, we know that we’ve lived another year…
That is how—ladies and gentlemen —light (your revelation of purpose and God Himself), define time for you!
Question is … Has your light come?
Have you met God? . . .
If not, your time will continue getting wasted and wasted and wasted forever!
Ask Him to abide in you today, and peradventure, it’ll be a start of the hope of fixing your ‘timeline’.
If you’ve met God, know that there’s more in Him. And the more of Him you find, the more that you get an upper hand in harnessing time & redeeming it!
