I am a student of architecture: That means I am keen on how structures erect, or how elements stand. When I look at the ceiling, I see how its four corners are supported by the beam, which is supported by the walls, which go way down into the foundation in the earth.
But it is not the same with the sky! A cloud spangled blue sheet hangs above us everyday, and I can’t seem to find the beam and walls or pillars that hold it up above, from the earth!
The clouds also cause a wrinkle in my temple! How can the same thing that float, decide to become heavy at the same point that it falls in form of rain. Then evaporate back by another way to be seen the following day! It’s all incomprehensible!
Unlike the firmament that floats without support, no ceiling can. And for the water that has been spilled by man on a tiled ground…we can’t see it evaporate! It suffers the body of the cloth that mops it away quickly!
Sometimes, it is in our human nature to try and understand every detail. How we go from point A to B! How the noon comes after the morning! But we can’t find answers to mysteries such as how a 20-metres-high-tree comes from a small seed! Or what is holding up the planets in that big empty space called the galaxy!
In life, if you are submitted to God, not everything will make sense. Even for those who know not God, life is already too senseless, and so . . . God has taught me the wisdom to allow room for the incomprehensible! His thoughts are higher than ours, yes. Perhaps like Joseph you’re in a pit right now. Or a prison. And you are certain that He has abandoned you! But you’ll only understand it all at the end when the famine comes, and your family shows up for food.
Maybe you’re Job. You’re being tempted to curse God and die. But you realize that the evil was all from the enemy…and not God.
So when I am overwhelmed… I remember His thoughts…He is seeing what I am not. I have to trust Him with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding!
When you surrender, saying you don’t understand everything—what you’re going through—you are in essence living the humility in the secret of casting all your cares upon God (for He cares for you affectionately)…and He said once you humble yourself, He’ll exalt you in due time.
This exalting means, He will elevate both your understanding of what you went through (like Joseph realizing that though it’d been meant for evil, God turned it out for Good) … and your position above all your enemies (literally, just like Joseph from prisoner to prime minister)
If you try to comprehend everything, you’ll run crazy, and stressed. Let God work it out. That is why He is God! Let Him worry about it!
It shall be well with you!
amen.. I call it being human..
