Days of Past Future | Power of Covenants

I remember when I collided into the discovery that Colgate was a person’s name.

Yes, William Colgate started the herbal company. He made soap and with the increase of success, he increased his tithe from 10% to 20% to 30,40,50%! He confesses that whenever he increased his tithe, he had so much financial success that even if he gave large sums of money to ministry or charity, what he had left for home could feed not only him, but more, up to many generations or so.

Now many people use Colgate. Children call every toothpaste Colgate. It’s like Colgate is the new name for toothpaste. That’s dominion right there! William died in 1857. But millions of homes see him every morning, branded red on a tube in their bathrooms. He’s alive in a way. The toothpaste brand is flourishing 200 years later and still counting. All because of a principle its founder practiced.

KFC! Colonel Sanders became a success in his later life. What people do not know is that this old man was a faithful giver of first fruit. He confesses so during a 1970s interview on TBN and on PTL by Jimmy Banker around 1979.

It has been over 50 years of KFC, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down a bit… The employers, the franchise, all of it should know, that the success being experienced is encumbered to one faithful instruction that the forefather obeyed. Their hardwork won’t change much. They are living in the overflow of a blessing!

Rockefeller’s story is equally the same. Foundations of wealth were laid by John D. Close to eight generations have passed. All of them just basking in the wealth that their forefather begun in the late 1800s. Some didn’t need to work hard. Others walked into a rich inheritance. The rest just needed to be born with a Rockefeller name, and all were ‘born with silver spoons in mouths’… All because of what one man did. In His past. In His children’s past before their conception in their mothers’ wombs.

Akin to earlier examples, we see in the Bible, God doing many things for men in the future, all because of what happened in days past. Because the past got Lot related to Abraham, he had to be saved from the fire of judgement! Because of what God promised Abraham, Isaac benefitted. He just had to be born, and suddenly wealth was His.

We see God forgive the Israelites time to time, because of the covenant He had with Abraham. King Solomon after a time, forsook the Holy way, following the gods of his many wives. That was against the law. He could have been struck by leprosy, but God would see David Junior. And so He remembered how David praised Him, and worshipped Him in truth & in spirit, and because of what His father did, God overlooked Solomon’s sin!

For the old testament, that was huge!

With those relevant examples to concrete my case, I now park our touring van to today’s final stop. Beyond Abraham, and David, God remembered those who couldn’t gain direct inheritance from these patriarchs. If you’re a non-jew, listen keenly.

It didn’t make sense God creating you, spending eons thinking of your form, and only to abandon you, void of blessing to walk on this wretched earth. So He came down as a man. As Christ! He not only ended the law for the Jews but also created a back door for whoever would believe on Him. In so doing we’d be adopted into Abraham’s lineage.

So that whatever was told Him, and David…would befall us too. For ancient covenants to be in effect, blood was shed. Unlike today, where signatures took over.

What Jesus did, the dying for us, through the shedding of blood, flipped the lives of us who were to come, securing our futures, only if we believed! Even if Colgate and Rockefeller started some things, what Jesus did can’t be compared to them. They largely manifested the financial side of the blessing.

Jesus’ doing granted us dead-raising power, disease-healing power, everlasting joy, unending peace, bubbling wealth too, and so much more! The only way one can experience these true virtues is by him or her getting born into Jesus’ bloodline by faith just like the only way someone was to lay claim to Colgate’s wealth, or Rockefeller’s, was to be born into that house’s family.

Yes wealth can be obtained by marrying into the family, but there can’t be any marriage if the person who desires it was never born. No wonder Jesus will marry the church much later at the end of the first time. There has to be a church born first, that’ll grow to become a beautiful bride.

That’s why being born into, is still the most valid way to come into any heritage.

The days of past future moral is basically telling us that we get to live a life that we are born into. If your biological parents are black, don’t expect to be Caucasian! But if one got adopted (say into a Caucasian family even if they are black), which is indirectly an allegory of being ‘born again…’, skin color won’t matter much. The name of the family or house and its culture or wealth and composition is what will be inherited by the new born, and is essentially what will matter now.

For God’s case, there are some exceptions. He created us in the first place, so it is like we are returning to Him, having been separated by what Adam & Eve had done. His pure DNA in us was corrupted by the sin parasite. On believing on Jesus, suddenly, He is the antibody that gets rid of the parasite, restoring how things were originally.

So the story is in reverse. We were all born adopted by sin. A wrong house to be under. Jesus is the door that gets us out of the orphanage and back to our long lost father, who waited outside the orphanage for years in a car, waiting for us to believe that He wasn’t going to kidnap us, but is truly our father.

Now, because of what Jesus did, you’re rich again, holy again, righteous, & God’s beloved. On addition, the promises told Abraham to us fell also. His seed through which all nations would be blessed was Jesus. Jesus shed blood with a wish—to get you to be his brother & sister, hence sharing his inheritance spoken of 6000 years ago with you!

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous…just like by Colgate’s (obedience to) tithing made his entire lineage & business enter eternal financial blessing.

Why the days of past future?

Simple; to learn the responsibility of creating futures! Today you’re alive. Today you’re working! Today you’re studying. But today will become the past soon. What you do will affect your tomorrow. What you do will affect generations to come! Your decision in marriage today will affect your grand children. Marry unequally yoked and you’ll regret later.

Just like the Israelites, God wants to tell the nations that will come out of you 100 years from now, that, “Because I had a Covenant with your father Biggie, because I had a covenant with your great great mother so and so (insert your name), you’ll increase greatly, you’ll have dominion in the economy, you’ll be in everlasting rememberance…”

I am quoting scriptures, but God is saying, “I’ll promise them new things. I’ll do for them what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no mind has imagined, because of how you relate with me today, because of how you worship me and pray and commune with me sweetly today!”

God’s establishing new covenants! Like Abraham, He’ll bind them with you in dreams. Like Isaiah, He’ll show them to you in visions. Like Moses, He’ll speak with you about them face to face. And you won’t need to shed any blood for it. Christ’s was enough for all new covenants God will ever establish with you.

That’s why Good Friday is Good!

2 Kings 13:23 And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

2 Chronicles 21:7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

Psalms 16:6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.
