The World is watching…

Tell me. How did the king’s servant know that David could play a harp so well that he was so sure the distressing spirit that came upon Saul would leave him when he played? When did this servant discover how talented David was?

When someone sings or plays once, impact isn’t as great as when he or she is witnessed over three times. David is known for having been out in the fields tending to his father’s sheep most of the times.

I believe that’s the time he mostly wrote the psalms. In his being alone, he found communion with God and songs as a result. I imagine, David was just enjoying himself, being aware not of any other thing apart from the herds he tended. But lo, there were passers by. Listening to his singing as they walked by.

Wherever the fields were weren’t far from a path, or a strange man’s home. As David sang, men heard. They possibly didn’t acclaim him in front of his face. Perhaps they too were rushing on their errands. But at the back of their minds, they knew of this boy that played a harp and sang excellently.

Then the king needed music one day…

Joseph interpreted dreams, and that cupbearer and baker knew of it. Like David not being praised, he too wasn’t thanked, but one day Pharaoh dreamt…

Weeks ago, I missed a call. 24 hours later, I was met by a person who told me what the call was really about. A friend from my church small group had just had her mother involved in an accident. The doctors started saying contrary things—the kind none of us would love to hear.

Apparently, my group head in the midst of all this, looked for a solution. She said, ‘I need someone who can pray for the dead…and they return.’ My name came to mind, but I missed the phone call.

Earlier this year, when my best friend died, I went all out, praying hours and hours for his resurrection. It was beyond impossible for him not to return. Along with the others who had joined me in prayer, a lot of dunamis had been evoked that even heaven could not refuse to provide our petition.

Now, (this is sensitive but it doesn’t apply to all the people mentioned…) just like some blind or lame are prayed for but don’t receive a miracle because some of them enjoy the self pity that comes with it, the person the prayers were for chose not to return, for his own reasons, and … well, since he too had his own free will.

His sibling after the prayers told me, ‘The prayers, for me, I believe worked. So don’t sulk. The next time a dead person dies and you are invited to pray for them, do not hesitate.’

Now, I know I missed the last opportunity when that phone call came…but, the moral through all this is; THE WORLD IS WATCHING! My leader was watching me when I claimed ‘Talitha Kumi.’ When I prayed ‘Rise up like Lazarus..’

Men are watching your faith. One day, a king will be in need of your faith. Men are watching your business. One day, a king will be in need of your business. Men are watching your children. One day, the talents they have will be needed by the king. Men are watching your character. One day, a king will be searching for a man with your character.

This means, you have no day to live less. All days have to be excellently lived. If you’re doing business, let the diligence be daily. If you’re raising children, let the diligence be daily. If you’re praying for the sick, let the diligence be daily. If you’re serving at church or giving your best at work, let the diligence be daily.

One day the world that watches, will call you out to a thing that requires a field in which you’ve been diligent uncompromisingly, and then, promotion will follow, and you’ll be elevated!

Therefore, in all you do, do it with all your heart. And let your diligence be daily!

Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man [who] excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown [men.]
