Today inclusive, it is ten days to my birthday. And as occasion every year, I’m caused to reflect deeply. Obviously, we’ve lost many people, last year included. Loved ones, close ones, betrothed ones. Our hearts hurt with heaviness able enough to sink a ship
If not careful, thoughts of death make parades in our minds, making us lose so much sense of joy towards living! God had to literally pull me out of the swirling negativity and REMIND me what He said!
“Psalms 32:7 Thou [art] my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.”
He said He’d preserve you from trouble! What’s trouble to you? Whatever it is, He will preserve (protect) you from it! That He’d be my shield and buckler. (I do hope you’re reading out loud. For His word is life. His word has the ability to effect what He says. His word doesn’t return void. He accomplishes all He was sent to do. Enough fearing. He won’t fail)
“Psalms 41:2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; [and] he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.”
He’ll keep me alive. And not I to look out for it. I’ve seen bullets pass body guards. I’ve seen thieves outsmart electric fences! Oh only God can! And He won’t keep us in poverty. No! His keeping comes with the blessing! The will of disease is to keep us in pain and depressed, but He won’t allow their will pass!
“Psalms 121:4-6 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD [is] your keeper; The LORD [is] your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.”
He doesn’t sleep. Ah! Our security guards sleep on the job. God stays awake, reading us lullabies, keeping mosquitoes away. He’s our umbrella against the sun! We won’t be scathed. And He not only does this for you but all that concerns you. Your house, your business, your children, your lot! All of it!
“Psalms 121:7-8 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
An acquaintance previously told of how she fell on slippery tiles. Her ankle shattered. It was extracted and now she uses a crutch after having sat in a wheelchair for one and a half years. I, being a writer and an artist, was having stupid thoughts prior, telling me I’d lose my right hand.
Well I spoke back saying, the Lord would preserve me from ALL evil. I could…but I WON’T lose my hand! It’s under the protection of GOD Himself. I pray for a miracle of healing for you if you’re having one of your body parts affected! I send God’s word to heal you (Psalm 107:20), to straighten that organ or plant a new one if all hope seems lost! You only need to believe and He will!
Notice also, ‘preserve thy soul’. Could it be that He as well watches not only our flesh, but our souls as well, keeping them from defilement, unholiness, darkness, and keeping them in the state of Heaven!
“Psalms 34:20 He keepeth all his bones: NOT ONE of them is broken.”
O thank you Lord for your protection! My bones will not break! Not one at all!
You not only protect but prolong! What use is it being protected only to die after a short time;
“Psalms 61:6 Thou wilt prolong the king’s life: [and] his years as many generations.”
It is the ‘many generations’ for me. Can you see them? Thank you heavenly father! The lady who comes to mind is Mom Winans, the mother to the famous Winans. This week she turned 85. She had 10 children, more than 20 grand children, and now, about 3-5 great grandchildren. She has seen many generations. This happens to me all the time! Yes you too who’s reading this.

“Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
Fearing God in itself is a guarantee of longer days, and a longer life. It comes along knowing God.
“Psalms 21:4 He asked life of thee, [and] thou gavest [it] him, [even] length of days for ever and ever.”
His word as well, when not forgotten, comes with longer life. Do not forget each word that falls from His mouth.
“Proverbs 3:1-2 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.”
Lastly, while all those come from God Himself, Deuteronomy 5:16 says, ‘Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.’
How? Proverbs 3:9-10 gives a clue;
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
If God,the father of all our spirits says that we must honor Him with our substance (possessions), then perhaps we should do the same for our parents. Honor isn’t by words alone, but substance too.
And last lastly, a prophecy rings out, and it has to come to pass;
Isaiah 65:20 ” No more shall an infant from there [live but a few] days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner [being] one hundred years old shall be accursed.
Infants will not randomly die. Our days shall be FULL and then filled! 100 is like the qualification for the statement, ‘he/she died still young’… God said we’d live up to 120. Can we recallibrate our minds to think that way?
“Psalms 122:7 Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.”
Obviously, prosperity God promises as well, for what’s the point of living long in suffering! Believe that He’ll do it!
•
Psalms 90:14 O satisfy us with Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning [now, before we are older], that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Psalms 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
We thank you Lord, that you’ll preserve us. You’ve prolonged our days. We believe it! Help us live to it. To your standard; of a long, rich, peaceful, protected, prolonged, overflowing, prosperous life!
Amen.
