Exodus 1:8-10 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel [are] more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and [so] go up out of the land.”
Whose eyes have you found favor in? Your boss’? What if he dies? Who’s your true source of favor?
Joseph—for those who don’t know him, caused all Israelites to obtain favor from Egypt (and the world). Why? He saved entire cultures and civilizations by being able to interpret a dream of pharaoh’s which warned about a huge famine coming.
He provided a solution that tided over the famine making the pharaoh richer, and feeding those that lacked food (at a price of course). By default, that placed him into the favor arena, respect and awe. But the famine ended soon, and Joseph died.
Suns and moons passed. Men no longer needed him to survive. And so his great descendants were shifted and no longer favored. “Your ancestor we no longer need to prosper!” They forgot what he did. His people were threats now, due to their increasing numbers.
My question is, who is your Joseph? Perhaps you were the president’s son. But now your father is no longer president! The best solution for us is to be in the favor of a ONE, who can last in power forever, who will be CONSTANT. Just imagine Joseph lived forever! Perhaps the Israelites wouldn’t have been subjected unto slavery.
Imagine you work at a place, and the boss that’s been favoring you suddenly leaves and is replaced by someone else who doesn’t know you nor cares who you are. If favor isn’t on you, then your work life will wind down to zero. No more bonuses. No more raises.
If I were the Israelites, I’d ask myself what made Joseph favored! It was God. Today we are privileged that God can come & dwell on the inside of us. If He is the source of our favor, and He’s on the inside of us, that means regardless who comes or goes, dies or lives, we will be favored!
The factor of favor will instead be functioning in a way that whenever we walk into any space or if any person walks into our space (be it a new boss or a new pharaoh), the source of favor in us (God) will make us shine, causing those men’s eyes to turn in our direction, and elevate or promote us!
When you’re the carrier of the source of favor, it doesn’t matter who is against you or not! Being highly favored will be your constant; be it in winter or summer, abundance or drought, sunshine or rain, prison or palace — promotion will come your way inevitably.
Don’t pray to have favor in another man’s eyes. Understand that you’ve received favor from the one who created all those men that you might wish to favor you. Rather, give thanks about it.
Be the source of favor and you’ll soar always, CONSTANTLY, despite the changes and circumstances and challenges that you may encounter in life!
Teach others as well who the real source of favor is. Let them know that God favored them the very time He created them, so that in case they start getting favored because of you (say if they are your children, or friends), and you depart to a different workplace or address, they’ll continue being favored independent of you!
Teach, exhort, and remind them often, about how favored, and how potential sources of favor they are!
