Matthew 8:16-17 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with [his] word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare [our] sicknesses.
He bore. He took. He suffered.
Have you ever had a debt? And someone pays for it? Now imagine your debtor shows up condemning you about not paying him.
Only two things are probable due to your position. Either you don’t know that someone else paid your debt…or you think they were lying!
I was having such a terrible headache disappearing and resurfacing the last couple of three days. When I read the theme scripture, I noticed that Jesus had an authority to cast out diseases because he was in a specific position —
He had taken these diseases off the victims and held the responsibility of carrying them…and so He had a right to be offended if they carried them again. This was to happen in the future by the cross, and Jesus was seeing in advance what Isaiah had already seen.
Let me elucidate…
If I was in debt, and Jesus paid it off in advance, if my debtor threatened me, Jesus has the power to condemn him too, for in the records, He has already cleared my debt
In primary school—Ugandans can relate— those who’ve been to local schools remember the crude punishing of flogging. However, there was opportunities for someone to bear another friend’s flogging. Now the teacher could not flog the one who’s been ‘flogged for’ again!
How? The student would strike! The others would too. The teacher himself couldn’t cheat the system. The one who carried on the flogging had the right to tell the teacher “No Sir, you just flogged me for him.”
Jesus suffered my headaches, so I said, “No disease—He suffered you on my behalf! So I just can’t resuffer!” And just like that, my healing was made complete!
Jesus as well suffered our poverty and our incompleteness, so that we could reign in His riches, in His glory and in His health! Understanding this law of exchange will enable you to live life abundantly and not to dwell in the lies of death and its minions!
Heck, Jesus took on our sin as well! So that our teacher—God, would instead punish Him, for our breaking a school rule, and let us go FREE as one who didn’t commit any sin!
O what a hero Jesus is! Refuse to resuffer what he suffered for you!
