No Formula

The Bible says God’s word is exceedingly broad. (Psalm 119:96) If His word is, then He is, for His word is Him. There are many ways Jesus healed people by in the Bible.

For some He sent a word. Others, mud & spit. Others, touch of a hand. Others, needed only to touch Him. In such scenarios, many men are at fault when they say, for example, that Jesus’ healing power comes by touch only. Or that it should! The centurion would beg to differ.

If some people spied Jesus and tried to create a formula, like concocting a recipe for healing, they’d have been doomed. For there’s no formula.

Religion is when we try to create a formula from one of the ways Jesus heals and we say it is the only way by which He does.

It is the same with communication. Some might say, God only talks to us in dreams. That’s already restricting God to one method of speech. What about those that have seen visions? How about visitation encounters?

Don’t limit God! He is exceedingly broad. He is creative. He can speak to us using the wind or a donkey. He communicated to me using spiders. Not that He made them talk—NO.

He made me look at their cobwebs that shimmered with dew drops, sparkling in the morning sun. He then told me how cobwebs come out in all kinds of shapes, when I was feeling creative short.

“If they can come up with thousands of alternative networks, how much more you in whom I dwell!” He elucidated.

My eyes were opened to a whole new facet of Him that day!

So. . . let your take home be that He’ll do a new thing. The last time I needed a million shillings He told me to make an art piece. The next time I needed it, someone gave it to me just like that, without I working for it at all. I had tried to use the initial ‘formula’, bit it did not avail much.

May it sink in you, that He has no formula of communicating or healing anyone. If He had, then the handkerchiefs that carried healing from Paul would not have maintained the power by which they healed those that they fell on, that had been too far away to be accessed by Paul physically.

He fed Elijah by ravens. He fed the Israelites by making it rain manna. He fed 5000 men with only five loaves and two fish! No particular formula—and yet no one slept hungry on His watch!

To Moses He came through a fire, to Elijah through a whisper. No formula!

Don’t be the first to expect Him to talk to you only by sending a dove from Heaven. Take those limits off Him. As you build a doctrine that He comes from the North direction, He will show up from the centre!

Religion is when we try to create a formula from one of the ways God appears to us and saying it is the only way by which He does.

Maybe He provided tax the first time through a disciple. The next time, He sent a fish with a coin having the temple tax they needed. No formula! Same God!

Therefore, don’t limit Him to a specific modus operandi.
