Last week, I was in my room all day, communing with the Lord. No one came in. When I moved out finally, everyone asked, “Where have you been?”
In my room, I’d say, but no one believed me. One of my cousin sisters did. She loves coming to my room. She can come, sit in the corner chair and just enjoy playing the puzzle games on her phone. Or, do something with the internet.
Twice she has confessed,
“Your room and the visitor’s are the most peaceful of rooms in this house!”
Now, at the mention of it every time, God has revealed it to me the reason why. You see, my bedroom and the visitor’s are the ones I have spent most hours praying in while in this my uncle’s house.
His presence gets smeared allover. Like Moses came down Sinai with a glowing countenance, every time we pray we move out with a fragrance of God. (2 Cor 2:14-15)
No wonder in the movie War Room, when the prayerful lady had sold his house, the buyer came into the room she spent most time praying and automatically sensed, saying, ‘Someone has been praying in this room.’
There was no see-able evidence, but there was an aura, an atmosphere that I couldn’t explain, that only the spiritually minded buyer could sense.
Well, my cousin isn’t that ‘spiritual’. So I think. Maybe, just maybe, the effects of your prayer, go beyond certain boundaries. Every time you pray, know that power is availed.
(James 5:16b … The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much)
Beyond power being availed, Philippians 4:6-7 has taught us that peace is a result of prayer. Jesus calmed the boisterous wind saying ‘Peace, be still.’ Since we are all in Christ, like C.S Lewis stated, we become little Christs allover the world.
Don’t mind ‘little’. It’s still Christ in you, (Gal 2:20) and every time you pray I hear Him say, ‘peace be still’. And then, that peace gushes out from the inside and rebukes your storm, and kicks out the fear, and fills your room…
Yes, the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails MUCH. But of that much, I’m convinced that tangible peace, like the one my cousin experienced, is the first and evident availing!
