Gomer

“I’ll be expecting you tonight

Won’t you come lay betwixt my breasts

We shall muse all the night, all night

I’m your bride, I’m your wife

And I ain’t going nowhere

I’ll be expecting you tonight

Won’t you come and lay betwixt my breasts

All night

I’m your bride, I’m your wife, I’m your girl forever

And I won’t be playing Gomer anymore…

An excerpt from the song Gomer by Biggie

This song just came to me now, as I marvelled at the love between Christ and the Church from both Song of Solomon and the book of Hosea.

In Hosea, we see a prophet being asked to go buy a harlot (prostitute) and marry her. After marrying her, she chose to still go back into the business.

Hosea still went and bought her back AGAIN. While the world and herself saw a worthless thing, Hosea saw the mother of his children, his gorgeous beloved.

That story hits different when you realise you issss that harlot. Jesus bought us back, but we find ourselves off and entangled back into enslavement. In his mercy, He gave his life in fact, so that we’d understand that we don’t need to sell ourselves for anything anymore, that all we need is at the table, in the house He took us into after marrying us.

Realising this selfless love makes me react in a way no less than that of the woman in Song of Solomon. I open up my heart, my soul and mind to this gorgeous thing of a man, of a God whose every thought for me is good and whose every plan for me is to prosper.

So tell me dear reader; Is the story of Jesus just a tale to you? Is it just a dream? Does it seem complicated for you? Or do you just enjoy selling yourself cheaply like Gomer? Know that there’s a man who paid it all. And that if you don’t come home tonight, He’ll still try every means to buy you back if necessary.

Receive His love today. Say, ‘I accept you my love, as my Lord and Savior and Husband today!’

As for me, I’ve settled for this lover. Let me proper proper get comfy as His dope jewel & pride…🌸🌸🌸
