Own It Up!

It’s annoying, it’s annoying when you have to go for a function, and you have to wait for someone to give you a lift and yet you are late. If you continue waiting for them, you’ll either arrive when the function you’re going for is done, or you won’t show up at all, in case the person decides that they are no longer going and yet they are the only option you had!

It’s frustrating, it’s frustrating when you have to wait on someone to pray for your sick or your sickness. If they forget, or don’t feel like, and yet you are waiting for them, either your sick might die, or your sickness will worsen!

So what can you do?

I suggest you own up. Own up wealth and wisdom. Yes, have systems that govern your wealth, but let it be accessible to you in the moment you need it. This will cut out the middle man, so that whether they are available or not, whether they offer up their car or not, you either have transport enough to that function, or enough to buy your own car.

Own up power. Yes, pastors have power to lay hands on the sick and they get well. But what if the pastor has travelled to UK? And lockdown finds him or her there! You say you have zoom or whatsapp. That you’ll use those means! But then the president decides to shut off all internet in the country! How will you reach the pastor now!

Owning up means being responsible. Be responsible for your wealth. Stop looking at that rich uncle of the family! You could choose to be that rich uncle. Just own it up and decide that you’ll be the richest. After the mind has aligned, all else will.

Be responsible for your health. Stop looking at that pastor! You could choose to be that pastor. Just own it up and decide that you’ll be a diligent student of the Word, and you’ll study it until that power has fully manifested in you. After all, Jesus said you’d trample over snakes and scorpions and all power of the enemy and nothing would harm you.

Take responsibility for what God has given to you. A time reaches, and even a child has to be able to understand his inheritance in case his parents died when he or she was young. The fear of owning up whatsoever was left is nothing compared to the regret of dying and realising how rich you were on getting to heaven!

Victory only came to the Israelites when they owned up. When they took responsibility to walk around Jericho as instructed.

Pastor Beatrice Byemanzi, as she preached partly from Isaiah 60 here said, “The bible says ‘Arise & shine for your light has come. Your part is to ARISE. God’s part is to make you a thousand. (v1, v22)”

She continued to say, “A husband might give you seed for child to your womb, but he won’t carry him or her for you if you are a woman…”

That in a nutshell for me, says, you have to be ready to bear the responsibility that comes with whatever you’re asking for.

“If the water breaks, or blood flows earlier than the expected time, a woman runs to the hospital to check what the problem could be. That’s responsibility.” She added. “She won’t just sit back and act like all is how it’s supposed to be.” (paraphrase)

So, is it a promotion you seek? Maybe it hasn’t come because you’re not ready to own it up! Maybe you’ve not made up your mind to pay the cost for the extra responsibilities that come with it!

Maybe your spouse isn’t ready to own up having a child, or your betrothed hasn’t owned up the vision of marriage. Amos 3:3 says two people can’t walk together unless they have agreed. If you’re on a street and both ends of the street have two different shops, and one is called ‘baby shop’ and the requirements are both the father and mother to purchase the child and sign documents, but only the mother shows up at the shop and the father chooses to go to the different shop at the other street end, the mother won’t get the child because one requirement lacks!

Perhaps you’ve prayed and haven’t seen anything yet. Look; Daniel needed an answer from Heaven, and not once did he stop praying until the answer came. On top of being a responsibility act, owning up also requires faith and patience most times.

Create that baby room and fill it with all things beautiful. Start baby proofing indeed if you are believing for child. Start thinking of that business name and logo if it’s a business. Envision how it will all look like!

If there’s anything you should learn today, don’t forget, that most things might not have come to you yet, simply because you haven’t decided to own up (take responsibility, by preparing both mentally or physically) the fact that they’d be in your possession.

No wonder a certain amount of wealth hasn’t come your way yet, maybe because you think that kind of money can’t be held by a person of your background…

Or maybe you think ‘you’ve arrived’ and that there’s no more…

Everything will take a new turn, if you only owned up!
