Come Up Hither

Genesis 28:12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder [was] set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Note; Angels ascended first before they could descend. I think the Lord intended it that way.

Have you ever noticed that every early morning, Jesus drew away to commune with the father, and then returned later in the day with power affecting the restoration of health and recovery for many!

Heaven is present to us. We were being informed that whatsoever we need, we only need to climb into the Kingdom of Heaven, and step out with whatever it’d be; but to climb stairs you need some bit of effort.

Now let’s put this in perspective. If the angels were coming from the sky, how far is it to earth. I’m imagining they were climbing over 10,000 stairs! If only 100 stairs gets many of us panting and disgusted, how much more that; 100 times!

What this communicates to me, is that yes, even if Heaven is accessible, not all are willing or able to pay the cost! Or if they are, each is only rewarded according to the cost they are willing to pay. Those who pay 10,000 stairs won’t have the same results as those who pay 1,000 stairs only, though even they would have a particular degree of results.

In the similar manner, John while writing Revelation had to be invited higher in order to access the higher things (John 4:1). If you want to see a map of a city and all its wondrous sky scrapers, you can’t stay on boulevard main street. A view whilst on higher ground will guarantee that spectacular scenery.

The amount of revelation you have is determined by how high you’ll climb! Every rung of a ladder will show you a different view.

That’s why if you desire higher power, you have to go higher.

Up a ladder is harder than coming down it. Gravity eases your way down. Going up thither requires discomfort, some effort, some balance in case it’s a ladder, bravery even if you accidentally look down, and perseverance to stay the course!

It requires the loss of baggage that might make the climbing harder. No wonder the Bible says narrow is the gate (way) to heaven. Many are not willing to lose their seemingly big and yet useless possessions.

It’ll cost you! But the more you sow, the more you’ll reap! This is good news as well. It’s not only to scare you; It’s to confirm something. You see, the word says ‘Forever O Lord, your word is settled in Heaven!'(Psalm 119:89). If His word is settled in Heaven, that means the presence of a higher ‘going’ for someone seals this truth.

You might wonder, ‘why bother stressing?’ You see, the Word of God is your very nature. When you find yourself being urged by your pastors to wake up early morning and read the word, that’s the Word loving on you!

It’s uncomfortable, but what’s at stake is much, much more than your sleep. God needs you at your very best in order to be maximumly effective on this earth. The effort to leave your bed early will return a harvest so plenty. The sacrifice of prayer will return a harvest so plenty. The time in fellowship will all return a harvest so plenty.

Keep climbing that ladder…
