The still small voice, ah…
Many today claim how they can’t hear the voice of God or His spirit but the Bible says ‘My sheep know my voice…’
So what’s the real problem? I’m of the view that most of them can’t separate God’s voice from the other noises.
They keep saying ‘I feel a thing tell me to do this and this…’ or ‘something told me not to go…’ That’s somewhat offensive. No where in the Bible have I heard God or His spirit addressed in such a way!
So what’s the way forward?
If you are among those in this category or who say ‘God can’t speak to me’, firstly, get more intimate with Him. I’m sure you can notice/recognize your mother’s voice or best friend’s in case they call you on an unknown number.
But how did you recognize that it was them in the first place? It’s because you have dwelt, stayed, communed with them most of your life and now their sound is like cement on your brain’s shell!
It’s the same with God. The longer you’ll spend time with Him, the more fond of His voice you’ll become!
Lastly; practice listening. God’s ever speaking to you but many times it’s too loud in your life you can’t hear His gentle whisper.
He’s not a thing!
When your parents call you, you never say ‘a parent called me’…You give respect & honor to them calling them a worthy title.
So, if it’s God you heard, say, ‘I heard God say/I heard the Holy Spirit say’… Yes, even if you’re among nonbelievers! Say it plainly that way. That alone has made me turn many to the Lord.
So, God still truly speaks today! The other day, a friend asked me to go visit him. He sent me directions until a specific point and then his phone went off. When I was stuck at a junction, I asked God, ‘Where do I go from here?’
‘Right’… I heard Him say.
Now please note that God will speak in your voice, so many times it’s confusing, but that is why He said, ‘my sheep know my voice..’
You’ll be able to tell whether it’s you or Him speaking! You’ll be able to know when it’s you and when not!
He’ll make life easier. He’ll tell you not to apply for that job because He has something better for you. He’ll tell you many things you knew nothing about. That’s why you have to believe that He can speak to you too and that you don’t have to run to the prophet or priest to hear on your behalf!
