In His book, Celebration Of Discipline, Richard J. Foster talks about the discipline of simplicity. He says, Simplicity is freedom, not slavery. Refuse to be a slave to anything
but God.
Many times we tend to pray like others. We get enslaved trying to pray like them. But that’s not freedom! As we pray like them, we don’t get the chance to pray like us and yet God created us originals and not cheap copies of others!
Richard later stresses a scenario, where we pray and rebuke a thought or an imagination. He states that, some times it’s God trying to communicate something but we brush him off.
Perhaps He’s interpreting for us what we are praying for while in tongues. Perhaps He’s guiding us to pray for that particular person or thing… We instead grit and grimace, trying to focus more on serious, deep, ‘spirichua’ matters!
Let’s adapt to being simple, when praying. It’d be looking at birds flying, and beautiful sceneries. We are then, using God’s creation to adore Him. Seeing Him in what He made!
Let’s be simple, as well, in rebuking the enemy; by this I don’t mean let’s desire ways of simplicity or have simple lives… I mean we must not toil to manifest God’s shekinah. Jesus never roared when He said ‘Peace be still,’ He never rolled on the ground pleading to God!
He simply spoke and He had what He said! When He resurrected Lazarus, he gave thanks to God and called him forth. He never first asked for worship songs to stir the atmosphere! He knew who He was! Do you know who you are?
We’ll only be able to do simply, the things Jesus did simply in public like rebuking storms, by fervently, doing the things He did in private… Like waking up before the day break and communing with the father.
I’m learning to heal simply. It’s in fact not, a thing to learn, but it’s us to unlearn the religious tradition that we have to shout or yell when rebuking a sickness or commanding something!
Just close your eyes; Declare a scripture; Look the devil in the eye; And tell him, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you through and by Christ; Simply.
Resist him; Simply; and he’ll flee. When he brings a disease, simply talk Psalm 91:3 back to him. God already delivered you from his pestilences…
The effectiveness to bring results is not in the tone or volume of your voice! It’s in the depth of the understanding of the Word of God that you are speaking by your mind!
Even if you whisper that by His stripes you were healed, but you do understand that God’s word is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart and that no creature is hidden from its ability to change it, but all things are naked and opened unto its eyes, exposed and defenseless…
Then your healing will quickly manifest and your body will immediately align to what you’ve said!
Forget the thromping, the yelling, the kukowoolaling, the banging of heaven’s doors to open up and pour a blessing on you.
Walk in authority
….Simply!
