The Purpose Of a Christian

I watched a Nigerian movie the other day.It was about a child who went to heaven and mbu, God showed him the rapture.

His father was a pastor…but when the boy returned from the dream (which was the future apparently), he told his father that he never made it to heaven.

The child told his mother that she made it, and also continued to tell who made it and who never made it! The father was frustrated…he went to his bedroom, locked himself up for days…and eventually took his life because of that!

The mother’s joy was implausible. She was happy that she’d made it..though quickly wore a sad face for her husband. It was all a joke. It felt like getting to Heaven was for a few and that it was a competition.

Heaven’s meant for everyone except the devil and his minions. To me, the whole concept of the movie was wrong.

I wish they had spent that cash feeding some poor hungry folk out there. That would have been ministry much more than spreading this sad news!

The purpose of a Christian is to speak about God’s endless love, talking about his goodness and declaring the works of grace through Christ and not pronouncing judgement over men…the very men God so loved that He sent his only son, so that they’d not perish but have eternal life!

Ours is to be The Christ the world sees. Ours is to preach the gospel. Why? It’s because once we preach Christ, and a man believes Him, and welcomes him into his heart, he receives eternal life!

In other words, everyone who confessed Christ as their Lord & savior is already in Heaven. Eternal life is Christ, and it doesn’t begin after death. No! It begins at the mention of Christ as Lord and savior like the theme scripture states! (Rom 10:9-10)

So let’s stop this nonsense, of threatening fellow men by telling them how they might or might not make it to heaven… Let’s gouge out this weed of selfishness, wishing that Christ came back now.

Millions haven’t confessed him yet!

Play your part! Declare Him everywhere you go! Heal the sick! Raise the dead! Enrich the poor! You are the best opportunity for that neighbour of yours to receive Him. You’re the best chance for that family member to taste His gracious love! And remember, The Holy Ghost is with you to help you all the way!

Leave the higher matters of God to God!
