On 28th November, it was Thanksgiving…and I thanked God for my phone. I realized how, it helps with calling, texting, and updating me with news happening around the whole world. A few weeks ago, on YouTube, I was receiving a lot of recommendations…
Kanye West’s Sunday Service videos were showing up. This is his gospel choir that he’s been singing with allover America. I reacted the same way you have. “Bruh is born again?” Yes He is…and we missed when He confessed Christ as his Savior!
Of course many think it’s a joke. I saw clips of his choir sing. And goosebumps popped allover my body. Then I came across a 2 hour video of His choir at Lakewood Church, pastored by Joel Osteen in Houston, Texas.
I ignored it, but it kept coming back. So on Thursday I decided to log onto Facebook and watch the live performance here; https://www.facebook.com/LakewoodChurch/videos/628262347983235/
O. M. G.
Just the starting of the performance shook my room. This was an army of singers. Having a first glimpse of them you can tell that they are not the usual Sunday choir. It looked like random people picked up from subtle neighborhoods and invited to sing just like we see in the movie The Fighting Temptations.
The energy in every song was appropriate. The synchronized dancing was excellent. The harmonies, the melodies, the symphonies, the notes, the sound was purely angelic. Glorifying I must say it was! But in all this I still felt nuhhh… What other people had said was still buzzing in my ear until I saw something I know only the Holy Spirit can do;
Encounters

The choir sang ‘We give you all the glory we worship you Our Lord..You are worthy to be praised.’ One thing about worship is for sure; provoking encounters with God. My heart was moved, seeing this bunch of singers crying, kneeling, prostrating, weeping, praying, adoring, declaring, and just loving on God!
That’s one thing you can’t fake! Before I knew it, I had been praying in spiritual tongues for the past 10 minutes! Which I usually do when an encounter is betiding. I’m not here to debate…but I know God takes whatsoever opportunity He lands on to move or impact his children.
As these people sing…He works in them. As the accusers judge, God’s doing a work by them. It’s so great that even if it were told them it’d be so hard to believe! (Hab 1:5) And critics have failed to realize that Kanye has influence.
I’ve met people and invited them to church, but they say it’s too holy for them. Our church rents bars on Sunday mornings for it’s different locations…because once upon a time, a drunk awoke and he was surrounded by worshippers. He was transformed by the word he heard every sunday morning as a result of his getting wasted.
As I speak he’s an elder now. Free from alcoholism…and fully reconciled to God. When these people are invited to the bar on Sunday mornings, they don’t feel the unholiness or unworthiness, as they’d have when invited to church…for a bar could be their spot or usual hangout.
In the same way, millions out there don’t want to do anything with gospel music, but love Kanye. If they hear that he has released a gospel album, they won’t feel unholy to listen to it as Kanye could have already won their hearts and he’d have instilled the same touch he had in the other songs that made these followers like his initial music.
Influence is key! Now that’s he’s changed, God will use that strategy to win more souls to him. And the enemy can’t do anything about it.
In conclusion, the true test of worship music is when it’s weighed on the scales of discernment and the pan of encounter & revelation weigh greater than the pan of presentation & performance.
And that’s what I just confirmed when I watched that video.
So, in the Spirit of Thanksgiving, I thank God for Kanye West and his new ministry. I declare that it transforms billions of lives and that it may receive the anointing that causes healing, raising of the dead, reconciliation of men to God and exaltation of God like sweet incense whenever any of those voices ring and whenever their owners open up their lips to sing, whether on stage or in the secret place where it’s them alone and God!
In Jesus’ mighty name.
Amen!
